Honestly, there are many many basketballers, no matter pros, amateurs or casual who copied and still copies MJ's moves.
Kobe did that when he was a teen like many of us did too. But i would rather say that Kobe

It's actually not a secret that Kobe looked up very much at MJ when he was a teen.
He watched hours MJ tapes over and over again.
MJ is still Kobe's idol and there is no doubt that MJ inspired him to play the game. But it has to be said that Kobe has some own crossovers and dunks that does not look like MJ too.

Michael Jordan is better than Kobe by a bit. That said, I really don't have a dog in the fight. Bird was the greatest of all-time despite what the corporate media tells you. Kobe is desperate to be considered better than Jordan b/c that's who you think he's supposed to compete with. But Kobe is no Bird and he never will be.

I do think Kobe and Jordan are quite close, both possess traits that are very similar and both are better than the other at certain things. But MJ's body of work is just more impressive. I don't however feel the same way in regard to Larry Bird. No doubt a great great player but in the end I don't see how he's better than Kobe.

You need teammates to win guy, maybe if you would have stepped onto a basketball court at any point in your life you'd understand that. And Kobe was a co-captain with Shaq on those title teams, check your facts. Magic had incredible teammates, does that take away from him? Russell had 9 HOF players on HIS teams...notice the trend?

Basically shaq is known as one of the best centers in NBA history. That laker team was SHAQs team. Plain and simple. I laugh at bitter kobe fans who like to forget, conventionality that shaq WAS the man on that team. The captain. That cannot be denied. The point is, kobe is NOT on MJs level. @Mattixxg I'm not trying to downplay Shaq, he was one of my favorite players when he was in LA. All I'm saying is Kobe was a key contributor and a valuable asset to those title teams with Shaq. People always say Kobe rode Shaq's coattails and that isn't true at all. As for MJ, he is definitely better than Kobe. I saw MJ play in his prime so I know the differences between the two. And lastly, you can't blame the loss to Dallas just on Kobe. The whole Laker team didn't play well, including Kobe.

You could have filled kobes spot with iverson or a healthy tmac and that laker team would hae still won the championships.
And in the mavs finals, gasol didnt step up along with kobe, i agree. but the weight of the blame has to go to your team captain.

Again you are ONLY talking about kobe. Dude, there were ALOT of OTHER great players and teams in the NBA. Kobes lakers were NOT THE ONLY ONE!
Also that 2001 team had shaq as the captain, the leader, NOT kobe. And the detroit pistons are well known to be one of the best defensive teams of all time. The celtics were also a great defensive team. The thing is..all you know is kobe, thats why im destroying your arguments.

@Mattixxg Who was Jordan's competish for MVPs in the 90s? There was no Duncan, Nash, LBJ, etc. I don't care about Jordan's scoring titles. Yes he was a great scorer, but his Bulls actually scored more pts 2 yrs before he arrived than at any point in his career. I do think he's a good defender and Kobe sucks. I already said Jordan is better but its nowhere near the huge gap people want to pretend.
