@illmindful I actually did some delving into the subject, rap is more or less considered "spoken word" poetry. So rap is a branch of poetry. So we're both kinda right if you look at it that way. Spoken word is credited to the African Americans of the 60's and poetry is credited to people dating back to ancient China and Greece, etc.
