  • Very nice! Needs to be played a tiny bit more cleanly, but still, wonderful! (Don't mean to sound patronizing; I can't play it as well as you do myself!)

  • learning to play this right now, and it's beautiful. :-)

  • my piano piece for this year i wish i can perfect it -______-"

  • The piece is far too slow. It needs to speed up a little; after all - it is a waltz and it needs to be lively and dance-like.

  • @Montyleeny14 I don't think so.. I have the recorded version of this song on my iTunes and it's the same tempo

  • I see why some would think that this is an easy song. Well, the melody is easy, but the chords are massive and take a long time to learn. Also, the way it's supposed to be played is actually quite complex.

  • Very Good!

  • I love this piece, it is so beautiful. I had never heard it until I was playing a game of Majhong. It was one of the midis. I found out the name and I have been playing it over and over and over. I don't tire of hearing it.

I wish that I had the chance to learn to play a piano. I would have wanted to learn classical. Good jobf!

  • love the tempo

  • I find it a messy version. I'm sorry.

  • Way too slow.

  • @FerdinandNicolay Its supposed to be slow.

  • my favorite :)!!

  • Thanks for the posting. It's lovely!

  • This, really is PAINFULLY slow...

  • If any of you have attempted this piece, you will find that it is extremely difficult to play, even though some publishers call it one of Brahm's easiest. It's a very excellent piece, and once you master it, it's lovely to hear! Keep practicing it, though; as much as I hate to admit it, this is painfully slow.

  • i just wanted to play this piece but I dont get the righthand chord at @ 1:33

on the sheet it says: A , Bes, D, F, Bes

You play: Bes , D, F and Bes.

Whats the deal with the A.. if I have to play it that way than my thumb has to play the A and Bes together (else its impossible). Anybody ^^ ?

  • @RemovdSande11 agreed. The thumb has to play the bottom Ab and Bb together unless you've got large hands.

  • 1,2, 3 it is important

  • It's a waltz, not a lullaby!

  • i thought that was pretty good,, its pretty hard to play,, at least it is for me,,,,

  • I think Lisztianus was right in many ways...

although the piece is played here with feel and beatiful slow temo.(I agree misterbel then)

one way I propose ...I use my arms for right hand chords ..push and pull with sliding my fingers on keyboards while pushing down...sometimes it helps..but I agree there are lots of methods there.

  • What's wrong about constructive criticism? If you post on youtube, you should be prepared to receive people's opinions. So many people, so many coaches.

And I don't think Lisztianus1973 was all that nasty. This is indeed a hard piece (depending on your level of course), and I think Jh8812 does a pretty decent job. It's often played way too harsh. This is rather subtle (the play is marked "dolce"). Commonly it's played a bit faster and with more dynamics, but it's refreshing to see another way.

  • lisz, that was a stupid thing to say,, people can post any video they want, if you dont like it jut turn it off...i thought it sounded pretty good, if you knew this piece you would know its kind of difficult,, and that was a pretty good job...i wish people would quit trying to act like pro piano critics on here...

  • at 0:55 you didnt play A flat :P sorry, had to point it out

  • Obviously there is no feeling, since he is learning the piece still.

  • Esto es tocar un tema bien y con sentimiento felicidades che! abrazo!

  • Youare really great!

  • yes it is obvious in your playing that your still learning, but without a doubt I like your interpretation of the piece much much more than most of the "professional" performances on youtube. they really play it fast and get caught up in the tempo and forget that the melody and the feeling are everything in this era of music. So Bravo!!

  • thanx for the tutorial

  • c'est beau! j'en pleure!

  • I really must say that I can hear some 'timing' mistakes and tempo is not right too

  • Que buenas tomas hay en este video para aprender la posicion de las manos, me ha ayudado mucho conseguir tocar esta pieza, gracias a este gran maestro. Si no saben espanol me vale madres!

  • 1:59 Oleeeeeeeee!!

  • this is probably one of my favorite's to play on the piano

    good job

  • I played this for a piano exam when I was a teenager. It's one of my favorite pieces. I had to quit because of muscle damage ending hopes of a music degree. I love to hear someone who can still play this music and make it sing.

  • Pretty good playing, captures the essence of the song. This is one of my favorite tunes.

It sounded like you weren't really used to the action of the piano; some of the notes weren't defined well in the beginning. Other than that, good job!

  • Very nice, makes me wish I didn't give up on the piano as a little kid.

  • You can stop wishing and resume your piano lesson now, it's never too late. I started my first piano lesson at 24 years old and never regretted it! Determination and enjoy doing it will give you better result than starting early in the childhood.

  • Great comment, I'm hoping to start piano lessons too! And I'm 22. His an inspiration.

  • Or just teach yourself. I started doing that at 26, and it's working out quite well. Everyone tells me, "take lessons." Bah! I'm doing quite well on my own.
