Thanks, back in the day us blue-eyed soul brothers from Gary Indiana fliped over Go- Gorilla and tried to harmonize and hit those beautiful high notes!! I thought The Ideals were next to us. From Chicago??? Thanks again!!
My two uncles sang in this group. Reggie Jackson is the high voice singing Don Juan. Leonard Mitch Mitchell was also a member who sang in my wedding. Both have since died and are dearly missed. This song brings tears to my eyes hearing my uncle's angelic voice.
wow,,thks for posting this song!! i have been trying to find it,,im only 25 but this is wut i grew up with!! it reminds me of my tios,,so many memories,,,thks alot
Thanks for placing in YouTube. This song is an all time great from the golden age of 45's. My 45 broke in half and my search to replace has been fruitless!
I'll have to double check to see if this record has any connection to "I've Been Good To You" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles. They are practically identical.
@colsnake331 Correct me if I'm wrong: the connection is Tim Maia, the Brazilian soul, funk man. Tim's American group was The Ideals and he arranged a couple of Smokey's songs.
@chaguanas You may be right but the only real people who can confirm it have passed on or not disscussing the old production/arrangements of that era. (Rev.) Mity Collier may know or Ruby Stackhouse (whom I havn't bumped into in months). I'll stick my ear to the ground but....
This has become one of my favorite songs of all time. I can't stop listening to it. Thanks for posting. It's a shame so many of these songs were so short.
