It was amazing how "The Count" was able to fall asleep after imagining counting birds and elephants but, as "The Count" was sleeping at Ernie and Bert's apartment in one skit, he imagined counting sheep jumping over a fence since he said he wasn't tired and couldn't sleep but, he never fell asleep after all that counting and imagining where he kept Ernie awake all night while Bert slept on the living room couch. Plus, even on that Ernie and Bert skit, he did more counting than he did here.
I've been loking for the Count's song "Transylvanian Lovecall". But nodody has it. It's the song that made me fall in love with dark and scary so I really want it!
You're right. I didn't notice that until now. We hear elephant sounds just as he finishes counting the birdies. They must have hit the wrong button by mistake.
It's funny how The Count said that he has nothing to count when he always sees something to count. Of course, he could've counted the candles in his room and/or the spots on his pajamas.
Now, if only the Count remembered his own advice when he had insomnia in that other sketch...instead of making that poor guy from the Emergency Counting Service wear a sheep suit.
Well, that might have happened before this. Plus, maybe after all the trouble the Count put that Guy through, they realized Twenty Four Hour Emergency Counting Service wasn't such a good idea after all and closed it down.

Notice the elephant noises when the birds show up.

But he sings in the second verse that it's "to dark to count a nose on your face".

Good bedtime song. This should've been on the 'Sleepytime Songs' CD.

But it does appear on the "Count's Countdown" album.
