@Wcoltd The manganese(VII) is the oxidant. Look at a table of half-reactions. You should find something with a more positive reduction potential, like fluorine gas.

twisted, 50:50 is good but 75:25 potassium permanganate:glycerol will do the trick as well.

Anything! One crystal of KMnO4 in a gallon of glycerol will catch on fire, and one drop of glycerol on a pile of potassium permanganate will too, but there will be alot of leftover chemicals... 50:50 is the best to complete the reaction...

Well since you go Live in the US, You can pretty much buy anything from Liquid nitrogen to Thermite, I suggest you go to a chemical supply store, wich canadians dont have, or you can go to the pharmacy and ask for potassium permagernate, if they ask you what its for say that you have athleates foot. "OR" go online. you can find glycirin at any pharmacy. your verry lucky that you kive in the US, where I have to spennd months to find a haazodus chemical

I have delt with Kmno4 myself, its not so hazardous aslong as you don't Eat, Snort, or lick it, but you should whear gloves just incase. Once I spilt a little on my hand, nothing really happened, but it stained my hand brown for a couple of days. as for the glycerin. Its prety much safe too. This is one of my faverite Demos because its Sorta safe. I suggest you do this outside, and try your best not to breath the Smoke. Feel free to PM me for any more questions? yes, lighting thermite with that is easy. i've done it in my other videos, this was in prep for that. the cigarette jokes were in reference to my teacher, and a comment about himself and a joke he had made seconds earlier. so no, we are not stoners (not very convincing if you listen to my friend operating the camera). and it burns very hot, and according to our teacher does nothing beneficial for the taste of cigarettes. thank you all for watching, and uberownager for appreciating irony ;)
