  • I'm sitting in my office flashing back to high school!!!!!!! I fucking love it!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love this song

  • This never gets old its revolutionary

  • riascoltati dopo tanti anni...grandissimi!!

  • The best version ever.

    This song is amazing!

I can listen this song forever.

  • cool pour une foix qu'il chante pas comme une caserole!! Mais je tiens à dire que j'adore New Order!

  • I love Ian,but I prefer New Order's version.

  • this song is soooooo SEX!

    sorry for poor english.

  • One of my favorite songs ever. Seriously. Ceremony is a thing of beauty.

  • It makes me mad that they won't make up! I keep hoping they'll get back together again--each time they've come to Chicago--I've had my head up my ass and missed their shows. Their 1989 show still burns in my memory!

  • @housedubs1 At Poplar Creek?

  • @JediGTI yes, i remember it was a summer show! i don't even think poplar creek exists anymore. did you go?

  • He never sounds like Ian. Nobody sounds like Ian. Even so, I love the song. It's as beautiful and touching as the original version. I could listen to the tune forever. Thank you.

  • Forever New Order and the roots of it, Joy Division!

  • Ian Curtis ;(

  • Peter hook, an extremely under rated Bassist.

  • Does anyone else hear Ian's voice during the chorus? Is it just the harmonizing of Bernard and the backup singer? Is it a backing track of Ian's voice???

  • @Joevirus yep, i'm pretty sure.

  • @Joevirus I think it's Hooky, he sometimes sounds like Ian when he sings

  • @Joevirus It's Peter Hook.

  • I will always love them. they´re unique

  • this is so up lifting

  • @EilidhlovesA7X Not really. The lyrics are pretty dark. Then again, it's to be expected when lyrics were written by someone in the deepest pit of despair.

  • @erikleiken if i find it uplifting, leave me alone, im nae you ya cunt

  • @erikleiken Well, it's layered. The sound of the music can be uplifting, even if the lyrics are ironically dark. The songs works on both levels.

  • One of my all time favorite songs.

  • This song is amazing.

  • listen to the version of this with Ian McCulloch, absolutely great

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can never get enough of this song, be it a cover by Radiohead, or the original by Joy Division! Love it! Gotta love fuckin Hookie!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can never get enough of this song, be it a cover by Radiohead, or the original by Joy Division! Love it!

  • wish i was there, i love this song, i love joy division and new order

  • i think that every time they play any song ,they remeber Ian Curtis

  • @tomasaki22 yes, i remember reading that they refused to play any joy division songs for years---it probably made the pain fresh in their memories.

  • zajebista muza

  • Ian Curtis inspired lyrics <3 Probably the happiest song he ever wrote.

  • I was in their last live show here in Buenos Aires,

Thank you New order. It's so great to listen to your music. Makes me happy, my all time favourite band.

  • Love new order and joy division(one and the same) and LOVE this scene in marie antoinette!!!!! Yes, just absolutely TIMELESS.

  • Ahh...I'm having a Joy Division flashback...so sad how things ended up for Ian...

  • AMAZING! Long Live New Order!!

  • No me hartas New Order. Y menos con estos pedazos de sonido. Maestre Hooky la fecha se acerca.

  • Indescribable.

  • Beautiful - what a great concert!!

  • This music is timeless..............plain and simple man. It almost sounds better than the original.......like fine wine.

  • This is PERFECT

  • H'aint nothing without Ian.

  • at 2:43 i swear you can see eric koston in the crowd.

  • @xXFoxxHoundXx if you keep pressing 6 you can see him.

  • Are both guitars hypnotic to anyone else? Or just me? Anyone...?

  • @jdubvol16 Just you ;)

  • @jdubvol16 Yeah know what you mean, could recognise that certain sound straight away, probably why i liked JD so much.

  • @jdubvol16 the guitars just casually float through the song teasing the drummer who is working his arse off...

it is so well done. its high energy and gracefull at the same time.

I love the siren of the guitar in the middle - so suttle but so powerfull puts you to sleep then the drums sounding like gunfire puts you away

  • amazing music; terrible dress sense, especially Hookey!

  • @TheReasons2010 Ummm, what? How do you want them to dress then?

You do realize these guys are musicians, not some pretentious "rock-stars" that are completely full of themselves. Who the hell cares what they look like as long as the music is good?

  • @xRyan5

They would look pretty silly hitting 50 years old dressed as rock stars!

  • Heartbreaking beauty, high speed out of control beauty and, if music industry gossip can be believed, Arthur Rimbaud's favorite song ever!

  • @hugosalarm Well played sir...

  • i hate all the commercials. HATE THEM.

  • wow they got OLD!!!

  • i hate the fact that i like New Orders version better..

I think they were shit to Ian

they didn't even like their joy division albums

only the drummer seemed to care & looked as if he felt some guilt

drums are just as good as they were back then btw it's sick!

  • @simionTheOne I think you misunderstand Barney and Hooky if you think they were shit to Ian. They were all barely adults. The fact that they originally didn't like Hannett's production shows they were still immature in mind. They were too young to comprehend what was going on with Ian. For them, they were just having fun and living their dream. I remember when I was in my early 20's, I was pretty innocent when it came to the world that surrounded me.

  • @simionTheOne In interviews, the living band members only state their memory of the events and what they thought then. We don't know how they really felt privately. What I like about them is that they don't sugar coat their reactions about Ian's with fake emotions like many tend to do. They don't try to sound more sympathetic. How easy would it be for them to just sound sad and remorseful? No, with New Order, it is what you see is what you get. To me, they're more real than most in the biz.

  • @canuck21

that's absolutely true though, i don't dissagree with that at all

  • @canuck21 not only that but they came from the north which was very affected by the economic crisis suffered in the 70s, jobs were scarce, mines were closing and the situation was dire, any chance to escape such as through music with potential for success was scrambled after madly and those with them such as Gretton and Wilson were egging them on, so such things as Ian's problems were ignored or not paid the attention they should have been. Watch Control, it's very enlightening.

  • @Iberotimuka Yes, I saw "Control" and I also saw the documentary "Joy Division" and read "Touching From a Distance" and "The Life of Ian Curtis: Torn Apart". The movie is missing many details. I highly recommend the books.

  • love them!

  • Is this at the Carling academy? I think I was at this, one of the best nights of my life so it was.

  • My favourite ever song. They're so into it, it makes me happy.

  • Got to love Stephen Morris on those drums and hooky on that base. I used to think Stephen was going to take a heart attack. Just brilliant. Just look at the crowd and how much they are enjoying this.

  • i followed new order after listening to joy division, and am i right in saying that ian curtis wrote this song before he killed himself?

  • @bennynasherbaldy yeah, you're right. there's a version uploaded here with Ian singing. (no video, just audio...with pix of the band)

  • @bennynasherbaldy most of the songs he wrote were written before he killed himself, indeed.

  • @marklormarklor most of the songs he wrote were written before he killed himself, indeed????

in wich other way could have been !!

  • @marklormarklor most of the songs he wrote were written before he killed himself, indeed????

in wich other way could have been !!

  • @bennynasherbaldy Yes, Ceremony is a Joy Division song.

  • @canuck21

Kind of. Joy division never recorded it and after Ian Curtis died, New order rewrote half the lyrics because they couldnt understand them while listening to the live bootleg they had from when Ian sang it. Then they went and recorded it (twice)

  • @bennynasherbaldy yeah mate they played it live too

  • @bennynasherbaldy you are correct!

  • i am life long new order fan and think you jocks at this gig fukin rock

  • greatest song of all time.... love u hooky your F,in amazing mate

  • what venue is this?

  • Nice to them playing well a last. They've had years to perfect it! Morriss, as always gives a decent performance here.

This song would have been so much better if Ian had done it.

New Order: v good, but Ian would have made them great.

  • lappy63 comment - If you mean Echo and the Bunnymen they are from Liverpool not Manchester!?

  • @myspaceisforfags82 Sometimes you just have to let it go...

  • @badfword Did you just say that? Really?

  • @benciano It seems I did.

  • @badfword I call shenanigans!

  • @JediGTI Good to know you think no one should profit on their work.

YouTube was sold to Google *years* ago, by the way.

  • @TheShootingNerd I can never keep track of all the stories of them breaking up but the last I heard It had something to do with Bernard and Stephen touring without Peter Hook which makes no sense. Peter Hook was quoted as saying "If I ever see them again it will be too soon".

  • @bcgd hi mate ..no need to keep track...just enjoy the music

  • Aw, these guys are starting to get old. Never the less they sound like it was yesterday it was 1981

  • i'm crynig !!!!!

  • @mostharda learn to spell before you comment dumb shit.

  • Perfection! Just learned how to play "love" on the keys

  • They're no Joy Division, but New Order is a damn good band.

  • @stoprejectingmynames "no Joy Division"? They ARE 3/4ths of Joy Division. Granted, Ian Curtis was brilliant, but he wasn't the entire band.

  • @EmitFlestiKY No $hit! Without Ian this, without Ian that. New Order is Joy Divsion.

  • @stoprejectingmynames -

I don't know, I think the members could have set down their instruments and walked away after Ian-but they didn't and I give them props for that. They are just as great as Joy Division-although I didn't like it when Gillian left NO. Kinda disappointed there.

  • October 2006 and I'm pretty sure it was one of their last performances.

  • what year was this. It must be fairly recent, can someone help me out ?

  • @Mattfletch001 It was October 2006, they did two nights at the Carling in Glasgow. I was at the first night which was made into a DVD that came out in 2008! I was really glad I went as it turned out to be one of their last shows and it was a totally awesome night as you can probably tell from the clips on here!

  • @AIFL oh ok then thanks a lot

  • Great song but when speaking of greatests, the song itself maybe not, but the intro, I can't actually think of a better one!

  • One of the greatest songs ever written and performed in the last quarter of the 20th century.I never tire of hearing it.

  • This is the BEST New Order video on the tube. Must go to ebay and buy this DVD.

  • Great upload. New Order is amazing, rising from the ashes of Joy Division after Ian's suicide. They are tops in my book for life.

  • New orders ceremony off their singles album is better then joy divisions

  • Thank you m8 for uploading Glasgow concert.i wish to be there.cheers

  • Absolutely speechless....

  • I am so glad I found this Glasgow stuff tonight. New ORder in rare form. Fantastic!

  • absolute gold, in love with this song completely...new order does match this one pretty well, ian's version was a bit darker. thanks for uploading

  • AWESOME!!!!!!
