Very informative video! However, singularity is the biggest joke since Y2K. How can one come to believe that we can implement all logical and reasoning functions of human intelligence into a set or sets of instructions? Even if we could map that out, we'd have to find new hardware to implement it into. Perhaps we should scrap the Von Neumann concept overall if Singularity is our primary goal here; the word "computer" may not even be implemented in achieving Singularity.
@SopLusus Yes, by no means everything happening online fits with the Web 2.0 agenda. The tools are available and are enabling some great things to start happening. But as you highlight there are also possibilities for a very few to abuse these developments.
@gavinjonez Thanks for this and sorry for such a late reply. A video on the Internet of Things is a great idea which I will definately add to my list! :-) In the meantime, I have covered that area a bit in the fifth programme of my Challenging Reality series that you can find over on my ExplainingTheFuture channel.

We are one step closer to super-nerds and mega-geeks quietly ruling over all of us. Freedom is becoming fainter and fainter my almost microscopic degrees; one day it shall be little more than an illusion. Whomever manages the "net" shall manage your entire life, from computer recorded birth certificate to computer archived death certificate. Never forget, that with the electronic pages of today, the Delete and Insert keys are mightier than the pen.
All with you on Web Squared, Christopher! And, yes, this could/would be a big part of the New Story. I just recently talked to a local organization about the impact of the ubiquitous and pervasive web, and the effects of "Blended Reality." Yea, Singularity! ;)
I'll repost this vid on my blog sometime next week.
