  • Well, this was my childhood :) loved this :) even though if it's an oldie, stil goodie. So great to be a part of 20th century. :)

  • I sing "Portobello Road" every time I went to the flea market! :D

  • Well, i think that road might have just about anything you could ever dreamed up. Possible ebay beginnings here?

  • Does anyone know the song the Scottish troops were dancing to? My band teacher plays bagpipes but can't figure the name, anyone out there know?

  • Well there goes a another rabbit Its 3 rabbits Gone :-) xxx still counting

  • carrie is such a nerd

  • great now this song is going to be stuck in my head lol

  • 4:13 makes me willing to smell her feet...

  • Portabello Road is my favorite song in this movie.

  • omg never realized how annoying mrs price is in this part... its ma fave!

  • Ladies and genltemen, may i present... the stereotypes of the world!

  • I recently traveled to London and I made sure I went here. I used to watch this every time I went to my grandmother's house, so it has always been a childhood dream of mine to actually go to Portabello Road.

The entire time I walked along the street I had this song in my head, and I honestly half-expected people to be singing and dancing throughout the street! :D I blame the 6 year old version of me for that, though. ;) (Along with the countless number of times I tried to make my bed fly) :)

  • 05:27 Sir Bruce Forsyth xD

  • mmm, haven't had me some Winkles & Whelks in a long time 5:39 =/

  • Pennywise the dancing clown should be on portobello road, dancing of course.

  • The song about Porobello Road reminds me of a song from Mary Poppins; Chim, Chimery, Chim Chim Chiroo.

  • The spells of Asterot - It's odd how Disney always manages to include some form of pagan religion in their movies ... llike Cinderella's Lucifer for example ...

  • @JudePal Only in middle and modern Christianity is the word "Lucifer" another word for the devil. In pagan religion, Lucifer was often a word for the planet Venus, as the word means "bringer of light." The planet Venus left the sky just before sunrise, so was known as the bringer of light, or Lucifer. The prophet Isaiah compared the devil's falling from heaven to that of Venus. The word has come to mean devil in modern Christianity. The evil cat was given a name that equated it...

  • @JudePal ...to evil in a way that is easily intentifiable by the modern Christian. Furthermore, Astaroth was a demon who was first written about in 15th century Judism. The demon was named after Canaanite goddess Ashtoreth. The Canaanite religion was polythestic and idolatrous, but not pagan. Furthermore, Walt Disney (who may or may not have been a Mason/Illuminati) died 5 years before this film was released. There is often hidden symbolism in Disney films, but it is usually very subtle.

  • The italian version of this movie is full of cuts :( Thank you for upload this movie for us :) i really appreciate, is a great jump into my past.

  • Haven't the foggiest

  • I know it's just a little Disney movie without a ton of merit, but Lansbury and Tomlinson have some of the best chemistry I've seen in any family movie. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

  • I watched as a kid, my kids watched n now my Grandkids watch it. There's something timeless about this movie. The Portobelo Road sequence is especially captivating. I don,t think it happened, but then again, during the Blitz such spirit was often rife.. Glad 3 generations have watched this. It's a firm favourite with all of us!!. :)

  • I know this scene was long orginally but this is longer, it drags on a bit! Good film thought!

  • I love the 'multi-ethnic' slant and the gay sailors - oh and some Scottish, made me laugh. Still, 7/10 for trying

  • A lot of soft orange/peach lipstick in the 60s and 70s. So pretty.

  • omg the flunky of the man with the other half of the book is bruce forcythe!

    nice to c u to c u nice brucee

  • Some of the dubs on the restored version - the Sikh/Gurkha and Caribbean sequences in particular - were done badly in the restored version, I see.

  • I wonder if the real Portobello Rd is like this in real life, with people breaking out into song and multi-cultural dance numbers. That'd be awesome!

  • @Guernicaman it probably was at that point now its either been turned into DandG-prada-debenhams central or is full of market stalls selling even cheaper tat

  • And it gets worser and worser. I never watch the german Version again. The Song Portobello Road is only half in the German Version. But the Film in English is great

  • They don't make them like they use too.

  • lol being a highland (scottish) dancer... im moderately embarassed for disney at their sad attempt at it... but at least they tried i suppose... so that earns some brownie points in my book ^^

  • What are you talking about ....isn't that the whole point of the scottish army ....to dance like that ;)

  • lol being in the scottish army doesnt mean u can highland dance lol... i would bet next to none of the guys in the scottish battalions know how... only the guys in any of the pipe bands actually have to learn... and let me tell you... what you see in this movie certainly isnt what they learn XD (tho it is still nice to see it in the movie regardless)

  • the guy dancing on the table at the end cracks me up!

  • Lmao @ the guys in turbans! :)

  • Best part of this, and all musicals: nobody in the background seems to notice any singing/dancing until the proper time ;)

  • thank god for old movies like this that remind us of a time when dancing was more than just flopping your genitals around in time to music!

  • Yeah sure. It's near the Kensington area and it's amazing. These days it has tons of vintage shops/slow food markets.

If you didn't know that... well, now you have to go there and see for yourself [just don't try singing - it annoys the vendors ;)]!

  • i sung this song with my cousin in Portobello road to see wot would happen. we got moved away by police for "disturbing the peace"

  • LOL! That's what they never tell you in musicals - it's all very well singing about how awesome life is and dancing in the street, until the police take notice and ask for your details... :|

  • type it into google, it's a huge market in Notting Hill. i think one of the links said it was about two miles long...

  • The funny thing is, Portobello road is still a bit like this today... 'cheap imitations' next to 'heirlooms' lol.

  • I went there the first time I went to London and was rather diapointed. Still, it was neat to be there

  • I love the Highlander's dance in this movie. Amazing example of Scottish culture ^^

  • You've got to love the budget these old films had. Amazingly fun!

  • Is Portobello rd. referring to the area beside the seaside in Edinburgh?

  • SnlkLeeT- I know where you mean, but this is referring to the Portobello Rd (as opposed to Portobello district) in Kensington, London.

  • Mr Brown I am warning you hehe love you angela
