  • just asking you said you didnt want to go over 11 lb of presure or psi... why not is it cause u might blow the engine or a pistonring i tihnk im not sure thats why im asking..

  • @loverdagg It's a non turbo motor, so the compression is high, roughly 9:1. That, combined with pump gas (92 octane at best, probably less), makes it very prone to detonation. Detonation can do things like blow the headgasket, bend the rods, crush the rod bearings, crack ring lands, shatter spark plugs.. It's generally bad for the motor and not something you want. With more octane, maybe some race gas, or some 105 octane E85, that motor could run 20psi, if the injectors were big enough.

  • @unaclocker thank you (: is that im getting into cars now so im not sure why things run exactly when people say sartain things so yeah but thank you for answering my question (:

  • Just wondering, why is the blinker so fast? i notice the fast blinker on a lot of mid 90's american cars

  • It has a bulb burned out, it's to let the driver know that he needs to replace a bulb. When all the bulbs work, they blink at a normal rate.

  • i have a 98 dodge neon with a 2.0 dohc in it and i am looking 4 a turbo kit 4 it but i dont want 2 pay 4 grand for one do u have any suggestions as to where i could find one?

    ooo and nice video.

  • I'd love to post a reply, but stupid youtube keeps tossing my replies out if I link to anything or even hint at a link..

  • how much would a MegaSquirt cost me and where could i find it and what would be a good size for injectors and is it hard to instal the MegaSquirt

  • I'll send you a YouTube link to SymTechLabs, who make MS's for Neon's/420a/2.4L motors.

As for injector size, 550cc's will get you over 300hp. Anything below 330 is pointless.

  • i have a 2.0 DOHC and i want to put a turbo on what mods do i need to do to the motor please help me

  • Mostly just put bigger injectors in it, toss an SRT4 turbofold on it (they're like $200 or less used) and use a MegaSquirt to control the fuel and spark. With premium it's good to about 7psi, E85 or race gas will take 14psi on stock internals.

  • i think you were hitting a fuel cut . what does the cars fuel system consist of ? hope the fuel pump and injectors arent stock . that would be the problem .

  • Yes, it was a fuel cut. I had set the MegaSquirt EFI to cut the fuel if the boost went too high. I think I had the cutout set at 12psi if I remember correctly. It was overboosting because the wastegate can had been installed off-center from the flap it was to actuate. The fuel cut helped prevent the engine from self destructing.

  • are you using MS or MSnS ? i would just tune it off AFR and knock count . but i know all the specifications on Mega tune lol there is alot of enrichment values and such that need to be addressed . was that the base map you filmed ?

  • I usually tune spark on a dyno, so that I can see when I reach MBT, rather than knock. MBT is several degrees back from knock, it allows some margin for error (bad gas and the like). Yes, that was on a base calibration I got from another turbo Neon MegaSquirtter. As for MS or MSnS, MSnS is the old name of what is now MS1-Extra, this was using MS2-Extra, the MS2 CPU, reading the stock Neon crank trigger and firing the stock coil packs.

  • Also I'm Driving A 1997 Dodge Neon ACR Sedan...

  • Is Megasquirt 2 Hard To Wire? What All Will I Need To Get MS2 EMS To Run Like I Want To?

  • There are about 14 wires, each clearly labeled as to which sensor it goes to. The Neons forum (google for it) has quite a bit of information about doing it. I used their guides back when I got into this 3 years ago.. If you can wire in a car alarm, wiring in the MS will be a breeze.

  • what kind of exhaust is that it sounds great but would it sound almost the same w/o a turbo

  • No, a turbo changes the exhaust note dramatically. Anyways, that's 2.5" straight pipe, side exit.

  • thanks man its a great car to mod

  • How Much PSI Can The Stock 2.0L Block Of A Neon Can Handle?

  • PSI is rather meaningless because it doesn't take into account the static compression, fuel octane, exhaust backpressure, volumetric efficiency (which changes as the head is ported and polished), etc..

A better question would be how much horsepower or torque. The block and crankshaft are good to well over 500hp, as people build them to 500hp all the time. The stock rods are rather weak, only good to about 250hp, but Eagle rods are good to 600hp or so..

  • @unaclocker You really know your stuff!

  • the piping for the car is horrid but its not your car...good job on the MS work tho. how hard does it pull and do you think w/out a spoolboy I should be fine? Im gonna be using a SRT turbofold w/ O2 housing, 3" DP, stock WGA, 30lb injectors, 255lph pump, 12:1 FMU, SRT FMIC, Mopar BOV, SAFC, stock PCM, manual boost controller...stock DOHC engine, ported head on 8psi.

  • I need to fully solve the overboost problem before I'll have a real idea how hard it pulls. Right now, the engine shuts down the second I press the pedal all the way down. If I want to stay in boost, I have to feather the gas, and it's just not going to pull near as hard as it could that way.

As for your setup, I don't know. I'd ditch the FMU and the stock PCM and use a MegaSquirt like I did in this setup. This car had a similar setup to that in it's last go-round. It blew the engine.

  • what about your fuel setup? I see youre using megsquirt, but I mean what size injectors? are you using a walbro pump? and what FPR are you using, or are you using an FMU? did you do the spoolboy mod?

  • Fuel system is stock. Original pump, original regulator, no spoolboy mod, no FMU. Injectors are 42lb injectors out of a Dodge Spirit FFV at the junkyard.

I have the URL for the log of this project in the video description.. Check it out. :)

  • what turbo are you using? DOHC or SOHC? what is the whole set up?

  • stock SOHC bottom end with a DOHC head. Custom log manifold with a turbocharger from an '85 K-Car (.48 Garrett T3 turbo) Saab intercooler mounted next to the radiator.
