Guys you have got to use a proper digital microphone like the Andrea NC181VMUSB or you WILL NOT get the results I am demonstrating. The supplied nuance headset is cheap rubbish. that's why some of you are having a hard time replicating my results.

You can probably click Tools>Formatting and uncheck the option to expand contractions if you're using v10.

How come the "automatically add commas and period" feature never actually does anything? Is there anything I need to do other than check the box?

@tipoomaster You have to have pauses in your speech for it to do anything. Short pauses for commas, long pauses for periods.

thank you, I am sold on DNS. You showed the difference between pro and preffered. Unfortunately I have "essential" Nuance does not support it like others.

yeah, I also bought the same, and didn't know their was "normal" "essential" "prefferred" eetc.. However, I have Windows XP Service pack 3, and it works great. I think I am going to return this and get the upgraded version, which is Dragon 10.1 "Preferred"

AWESOME program though! It really does work. I was amazed on how quick it was able to train and adapt my voice. On quick note, make sure you make a new user profile if you use a different microphone...otherwise it will be sloppy

I have been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 for some time now and even though it trips up now and then, probably because I never learned to use it correctly, it is still an excellent program. I'd recommend it to anybody that has never learned to type or just has tired fingers. Nuance called me to offer a special for $99 for Dragon 10. It's usually $200. I'm broke but that is a good deal. Give them a call and see if the deal is available to you.
