@bbphnix This is the natural order of things. Sheldon's vote trumps all. -_-
On a side note. I was planning a trip to NY and was shocked by the relative prices of train vs. airplane. The train was only $20 cheaper and took significantly longer, it is hard to find a reason to use this as a mode of transportation for longer trips.
People with a little bit of understanding will understand the epic factor of bio-organic cellular computer devices. That's basically the first step to the creation of living androids.
Whether or not they try to act super-intelligent, at least now we have decent role models who always show good morals along with dedication to knowledge.
Even though the show is really funny, but I blame The Big Bang Theory for making some smart people becoming those self-central human beings. They really start to think that they are always right and the others are always wrong.
I was correcting other people's grammar and spelling well before this show started. This show is great fun but does not make me think I'm smarter than I actually am. If anything, this show makes me feel dumber.
@jamgrieve Grammar and proper spelling is essential to collective notion of modern society. We need to practice it more to survive our English language. In other words, English is beginning to die out just like Latin did in replace of lazy execution. Moron terms "lyk OMG society is sooooo dumb".
It's impressive they have managed to build an entire show around a exaggeratedly nerdy intellectual rattling off complicated-sounding (but legitimate) scientific topics, followed by a short delay and an incongruously "normal" response from party girl. Do they have someone constantly combing the theoretical physics literature to find humorously geeky-sounding articles? Personally, I find it more entertaining to read the articles rather than passingly guffaw at their complexity from my sofa.
@Joeofiowa : your question : Do they have someone constantly combing the theoretical physics literature to find humorously geeky-sounding articles?
Yes, they do They have a UCLA physics professor Dr. David Saltzberg, a technical consultant for the show who does check and reviews the scripts ! :). In addition the crew does spend time with students and faculty at ucla.
I dont actually believe about the unimportant stuffs. There are just things important to some people that seems unimportant to other people. Some people believes correct English grammar is important, some will say "#@&k grammar, as long as you could understand each other". Some details of the POP culture is important to Penny that Sheldon finds weird. We just have our own individual views on which things are important.
This is just one of many reasons why I consider Sheldon a pain in the ass. I would personally tell Sheldon to go on the train alone, and I go on the airplane.
Don't want to offend, subjectivity and all (and this vid isn't even a great example) but for a show about "intelligent" people, this show is pretty infantile.
@36clashfan77 A show doesn't have to be inaccessibly 'intellectual' to be intelligent. Fair enough though. I guess I'm just venting my disappointment with the show. The person who told me about it talked it up as a clever show. I thought "Cool, nerd culture comedy. Should be funny." I thought the same about the IT crowd when the same person told me about it. Turns out it's not nerd culture at all, but horrible nerd stereotypes and sitcom-style emotional childishness. Bummer.
@nightwrighterBLSBBMg If you honestly want to punish someone Sheldon style, you'd have to constantly lecture them on what they did wrong, otherwise how would they learn? :)
even though I love the show, I blame TBBT for making every single person watching it believe that they are superintelligent nerds themselves and start pointless arguments about grammar and other unimportant stuff.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Haha, I agree. I'm still in high school and yet I know 95% of everything they talk about on the show. Of course Caltech physicists are doing more difficult equations than an AP Physics class. I think they need to upgrade the intellect level of the show; however, only a tad. [:
cool did u know there is only 2 chromosome of difference between humans and chimps... i hope u get my point .. besides understanding and knowing is a huge difference....
you have to bear in mind that not all people understand and know the stuff they talk about on TBBT. For example, I know what are they saying and can easily translate to my own native language but the background of some materials they use are way too more scientific to grasp.
@donclemens Unimportant stuff? Well, tell me about the important stuff. As long as we are not living in stone ages, I think thah education is not that unimportant issues. You can ask poor african children, if they wish or do not wish to have a chance to study :/
@donclemens I'm sorry, but your arguement is inadequate. You must understand that the superlative ambience of your hyperdilective nuances are beyond the grasp of the gravity of pi times x squared to the negative of alpha beta. I mean honestly, it's as obvious as can be.
@donclemens Grammar is always important if we lower the standard of how we write/type things it lowers the bar for all humanity, then any kind of intelligence that is left in the world will be drowned out and we descend into anarchy.
@donclemens I could see that, but I am intelligent enough to know that the characters' portrayed inteligence is not that of real life astrophysicists, and particle physicists. I am positive the reason for that is that if they did make such intelectual jokes, extremely few, not including myself, would understand the jokes, thus making the show unpopular.
@donclemens True but can you really blame human nature when greasies wanna be smarter and nerds wanna be tougher out of pure insecurity and lack of self esteem? It has always been like this, the human race seeks change even if its for worse. And I agree with jamgrieve from the "this show" part.
@donclemens I wouldn't really know. I was superintelligent long before TBBT. I'm just leaving this comment to add to the mountains of data you've accumulated as proof for your theory. In the face of this data I suppose that it's true that if I watched "Jersey Shore" I'd turn into a mindless, empty human not worth the price of a bullet to kill myself with. Yup, makes sense.
aww leonard's so cute. i want to kill sheldon but i love him at the same time HAHA. why do they let him call the shots? well, probably because he has such great graphic tees
That is easy to say when you live in a functional government such as the US. Would you really be okay with living in a society that allows complete and total freedom to it's citizens.
Your grammar is horrible. You cannot use two negatives in one sentence unless you intend to make it positive. "Would you want to live in a government that controls you and barely gives you no rights" has two negatives, therefore is grammatically incorrect.
I did not 'run out of arguments' as you would say, I simply was pointing out your errors. Most people would defend their comment. By agreeing with me, you just contradicted yourself.
