  • This should be featured. Good wrds and great work.

  • you have a point - if you consider everyone is able to think for themselves. In advanced countries you have more ppl able to do that. But in my country e.g, where I consider only 20% at most are ppl who can think and do the right thing, and the rest are merely followers, it's sad to see some leaders who would use these ppl for their own self-interest, and these ppl get so worked up and be fanatic and they can't see the truth. In the end, education of the mass in the key and that takes time.

  • Agreed

  • Good points. Atheist must be inviduals and if they fallows views of people like Richard Dawkins, they just turn atheism in another religion.

  • wow...this is an awesome video!

  • Impressive thinking, writing and overall content. Well done.

  • Bill O'riley ?

  • There is a good example of someone who should be censored haha.

  • Well spoken!

  • i agree with this guy... in order to bring about change in the world there needs to be free, open speech, not censorship.

  • Great video and I agree we should keep talking. Despite the 'limits of our reach' -- agnostics can become atheists in belief, moderate god-believers can become more agnostic or atheist, fanatics can be even more marginalized in society than they are, etc. Beliefs in an individual can change because of plasticity of the brain. "Each time we say it or think it we make a copy of it in our brain, say it again, each time we say it or think it we make a copy of it in our brain." Daniel Dennett

  • With that, "causes" like free speech, and collective recycling causes change in the world are grossly over-rated People, rightly, should not be allowed to yell fire in a crowed theater if there is no fire, because of the harm that results in a 'potential' stampede. I feel people should not be allowed to publicly call for and thus try to recruit members for the cause of causing death to those who disagree with their creed. If some people want me dead, then we don't all have to live together!

  • Additionally, we don't all recycle because we know that collectively we cause change in the world. First, not all of us recycle. Secondly, most serious recyclers do so for the money they receive. Most others do so because it gives them a sense that they are collectively doing their part to change the world. Personally I place my cans and bottles outside next to the trash because I believe someone else will make good use of it. Everyone collectively recycling would cause NO world change!

  • Great video. Couldn't agree with you more.

Freedom of speech not only stands for itself as one of the greatest values of modern societies but is also the best tool in fighting dogma and religious belief.

You got yourself a new subscriber.

Regarding the Venom Fang guy - he went well out of his way and I would have supported the ban of just anyone, atheist or not, who spat hatred, bigotry and stupidity so loudly.

  • Great video. I believe in God, and I also fully support your freedom of speech whether we agree or not.

  • Very well said!

  • *Claps softly* Wise words

    Well said

  • This is one of the best atheist videos I've seen. But I think that about most of your work. It's hard to pick one jewel from a spectacular crown. You think you've found the perfect gem, and your are distracted by another its equal or better. I'll be very glad to see you come back with more when you've finished your project. If it's a book, please tell us where we can get a copy!

  • Very well said.

  • Let's censor the christian faith from the internet, television, and newspaper. We should put christrians in extermination camps.

  • Not really the point i was going for nor something I would condone.

  • I hear you!

  • @Jtaylor1 lol.

  • Well said man.

  • Great post. It's clear that as atheists we are the logical thinkers of this world. I will always listen to another's view without censorship....no matter the subject or position.

    Censorship = FEAR

  • one of the most sensible thought out videos I've ever watched on youtube.5*'s.

  • Awesome video! This is so true. I am so glad someone else said this because it is so important.

I feel very strongly about the evils of censorship. It is the reason I do not delete comments from my videos. I think everyone should have their say even if what they have to say is stupid! :)

  • 5*, subbed and fav'd.

Glad that I found this great video.

  • You make lots of great points. We all have become atheists in different ways. I also agree that people have to earn respect. We can't expect other people to respect us before we show that we also respect them. But, I also think that everyone has a right for their voice to be heard. :)

  • Thank You. Youtube helped me deconvert, because of all the Atheist movement. It sucks that I had to experience this at the age of 24.

  • fantastic vid. so very true, every word.

  • Great video! Made my day. I've been stuck in the bible belt for years and it was nice to hear rational discussion from a fellow free thinker. Cheers

  • By the way, this is currently my favorite video on YouTube. Those who say Atheists are irrational, hateful, and dangerous should see this video.

I could not have said it better.

    Thanks, Trenholmes!

  • shrouded60606 states in his profile the following - "I love my computers I love trying to learn more about computers Making websites that I get bored of and starting new more exciting ones I love my music"

He also states that he doesn't read because he can't concentrate.

Yet he makes fun of the way "mericans" pronounce the word aluminum. I've never heard an American pronounce aluminum they way you say we do.

    What a "wanker".

  • I like the way mericans say 'ali-min-ee-um' - " alu-me-num ".

  • It's even spelled differently in American vs British English.

    American = aluminum

    British = aluminium

We each pronounce it the way we spell it.

  • you have some real points here good video.

  • Just don't use the Bible to base your disbelief on God.

  • I don't use the bible solely. Facts should come from multiple sources, I agree.

  • Humankind has evolved into bitching, fighting and argumentative beings. It's in our nature and true to our evolution: those who are not able to string together some kind of half-articulated and persuasive thought just don't... evolve -- ie, get ahead in life.

  • On the other hand, those who are much too caught up in religions only do and think what they're told. Thous shalt not... bla bla bla. The thought process is limited to absorb, store and regurgitate a set of ideals.

Don't you ever get the feeling when talking to a particularly religious person that he/she is a bit medieval?

  • lol indeed. And it is always shocking how strongly the mind disease of religion grips the mind of people - especially exceptionally cerebral, intelligent people. Blows my mind away...

  • Another great submission. Oh, and I like the ear-rings.

  • "Farting in a hurricane" LOL! :)

  • This video of yours was good.

  • EXCELLENT! Thank you .

  • A little bi-curious geek? It's alright, Trenholmes is a sexy, sexy man.

  • well put, some nice points..

  • I think these are the truest words of every religion ever created, even satan worship. People naturally and instinctively want to have the basic human rights that their shells deserve. Shelter, foodwater, medical care, and a voice to sing or talk.

  • Nicely done!

  • One aspect of freedom of information is that opposing views can be compared. This is important. Comparrison of different information is showing people how to think, not telling them what to think.

  • I totally agree, another great point to add to the list against censorship.

  • You rock dude!

  • You & Chad are voices of reason. I will need to watch you more. Subscribed. 5 stars.

  • Brett Skeme doesn't believe in freedom of speech.

  • lol @ skeme. If that's the case, then that is a fundemental disagreement between he and I. I don't watch his videos anyways. He makes too many.

  • Featured, btw. :)

  • Thank you sir!

  • Well spoken.

  • I'm using that "I don't have to respect the beliefs of a racist" next time someone tells me I need to respect other people's beliefs. It's repeated so often that you really don't question it when someone says "You need to respect other people's beliefs." Good vid!

  • I think the word in this case is "tolerance". as in.......I enjoyed the audio content, but could barely "tolerate" looking at it. Dude, dump the hat and the glasses and that funky science fair earring.

  • He kinda needs the glasses to see I assume. :P

    Great video. I love it.

  • Flawlessly straight forward and well put together as usual!!!!

  • Clear and rational as always. I've come to expect no less from you. :)

  • If I could curtsy I would. Thank you!

  • I can't believe you wrote a 10 minute speech. That was awesome.

  • this video is required viewing for everyone, and i mean EVERYONE. although many will stumble on the 'atheist' label, the balanced and rational presentation of the ills of censorship covers EVERYONE.

    kudos roger.

  • thanks for the compliment! i don't care how crazy you are, you've got the right to say what you want as long as you don't physically hurt someone. censorship is far too slippery a slope than the risks of free speech. this is so fundemental to learning and progress, I think.

  • Featuring. I see, Roger, and where you posted this. You all are so Amazing.

  • You are too kind

  • Damn well said....

  • Another wonderful video trenholmes. I wish people would stop fighting and start focusing on what really matters. The one good thing about all the bickering is that youtubers, like yourself, are starting to get more attention.

  • Thanks MG! =D

  • u are a expert in useing word... good work love ur videos. 5*

  • I love your videos. Yet again, a calm voice of reason in the wilderness. I don't know what you do for a living, but I hope it's related to writing/oratory. You are a very good speaker.

  • "...how the liars are separated from the honest..." Perfectly said! This is by far the best video on this subject to date.

    Katalyzt

  • Very very very nice!!!

I will feature this on my channel. 5/5

    Angel XIII

  • Thanks Angel!

  • It's ok if you can't understand the big words.

  • Great job bro

  • As I said in my video, movements don't require leadership. Movements are organic. They move on their own. Leadership in a movement does occur but it isn't a necessary function.

  • Don't you have some underage asian girls to ogle?

  • this one hit my favorites with a resounding thud!

  • Damn! You put it all together. Thanks

  • I agree, very eloquent.

I wish someone with your voice was representing us on the top pages, not someone like brettkeane.

  • good job. i've recently been targeted by a prolific religious zealot and so far i've seen no need to block the guy. After all, his patently idiotic ranting makes my opinions look all the more reasonable next to his.

  • Great vid. One of the most rational voices on YT.

  • very fascinating and well spoken...peace

  • Thanks TFP. Kind of you to say.

  • Excellent video. The points presented are well delivered as usual. Speaking on the suppresion of opinions and censorship, I recently commented on a video by one of the "big dogs" of atheism on YouTube and was blocked for my trouble. You can guess who it was.I make sure and always stay critical of everyone. Not in a cynical way, but I'm very concious not to get blinded by the fact I've agreed with someone in the past or considered them an ally.

  • I appreciate that criticality. We certainly need it in this world. Not enough people are using their brains.

  • All this talking about movements and organizations... I forgot what it is we were fighting for. Honestly what is the agenda? what is the message/cause? This is an honest question.

The only thing I EVER wanted was to be understood, that's it. I don't care if people agree with me in fact I value contrary opinions more then anything.

Great video though, very articulate. 5/5

  • Non belief in god and the promotion thereof. Beyond that? Where the movement takes itself. Let it be fluid and it will do what it will. Movements don't have to be organized! =)

  • the title says it all. our free speech right to say what we don't believe.

  • Thanks, this helps puts things in perspective.

  • Very eloquently put.
