I agree that the test should have been run on two 64-bit systems. They are already using the exact same hardware but doing this would have forced the test variable to be just the OS.
That aside...I disagree that 10 ms isn't a big difference. There are customer applications that require microsecond and nanosecond latency constraints where a 10 ms increase in performance would make a large difference. Humans can't perceive the difference but computer programs can.
A last point of view. The hardware don't need to follow OS, but OS follow hardware and its limits. Thats why 64-bit OS has been developed,, to expand memory limits etc...
@ABC2D2 Hello friend. If you has more than 3 gig, then you should use 64-bit so you OS will address the whole memory. That's a big difference between 32 and 64 bit OS -> the capacity of memory management. Good luck!
I was wondering i have windows 7 professional but i want to upgrade to 64 bits OS how can i do it? i think i cant do it with windows anytime upgrade but its there another option instead of buy a new full OS??
@OIDJose When you buy a Windows OS, you buy the license for the 64-bit version AND the 32-bit version. Just send microsoft an email and they should send you a 64 bit disc (might have to pay for shipping) if they don't, just download it from somewhere, you technically have the legal right to do so. The product key will work on 32-bit or 64-bit. But only works with the version you bought it for, e.g. professional product keys work on 32 and 64 bit.

So the question is, what version of XP it was? 64-bit or 32-bit?
wolnymisio 2 years ago
Actually it won't matter since XP x64 has more flaws then windows 7 x64. You can check out the performance of x86 xp vs x64 xp.
