You prove that if you use your eyes well, no one can take their eyes off of you, and they will completely believe what you are doing. Don't ever press on your cords or force your tone and you will last long and go far.
Tiene agudos y sobre agudos bellisimos, pero no es soprano ligera con las agilidades propias, con el tiempo se centrara en una soprano lirica de gran resonancia.
your interpretation is curiously slower than i ever heard. since you're singing it out of the opera, maybe the liberties with the tempi. nonetheless, i love your approach to the aria. its refreshingly new and intriguing. the piano is so out of tune and sounds like a honky-tonk juke joint accompanist. in my opinion, the piano is the only performances distraction.
Thank you musiccoloratura. This interpretation is just an adaption that I did, a chance to extract the aria from the opera entirely and see it in a different way, a kind of "what if" scenario. I hope you had fun doing it for your class recital. I know that we coloraturas do these things becaause we can't resist the urge to "let 'er rip!" That's my Harley. -A good coloratura aria. Be careful singing sick. One of my past teachers put it most simply when she said "Protect your neck." Be well.
@RochelleSings thank you. I had soo much fun singing it too :) my voice was tired but thanks God, it went well. I was about to not sing at all actually because it was kinda dangerous ... but I worked hard, I would have been sad if I didn't get to chance to do it and I was looking foward for it.
You know what, sometimes I think I became a coloratura just because I love very high notes :)
Thanks so much. I think I should trot this out somewhere, huh? Are you going to be in Connecticut the early part of '09? The next time I do this publicly, I will perform it more to the dramatic specifications, so don't expect all those ecstatic seizures at the end...! ; )
Thanks, Gamenick923. -And yes, I get the Tia and Tamera thing all the time! It's really very flattering. I think they're pretty cute, and I loved watching Sister, Sister growing up.
simplicity is a beautiful thing. everything here is just too much, vocally, dramatically... the production itself... humor the audience, not your ego.
Thanks for watching! Maybe you didn't read the description I gave. Were I performing this aria true to the composer's intent, you would be absolutely right. However, on this particular occassion that I performed the aria, I took it out of context. I was not trying to make any particular statement except to explore the vitality of the piece and the adaptability of its message.- Just having a good time! No harm done.
Thank you so kindly. I love it when people feel compelled enough to comment. THEN I know I have done my job! I love it most when the comments are so complimentary and well thought out as your own. I agree that the libretto of the piece is magical. The fact that one can "play it" in an unexpected way only adds to the fact of the undeniable prowess of its creators. Great works of art are always able to reveal something new!
Thank you ! Marvellous, fresh, light and a clear spelling. For the first time I could nearly understand each word, which is by far not the case with most performers. Because they only pay attention to the tunes, the magic poetry of this song usually stays unrecognized. Now I could transcribe the whole text and get more pleasure hearing this opéra.
Titoo Titoo Titoo! Thanks for the love. But I must say I love this pianist! He is just one of those people who is always right on top of things, no matter what. I pulled a lot of tricks which we didn't rehearse, and still, he was right there! Titoo, please keep looking out for me!
I thought of you today, my darling Titoo! I gave a concert for some little ones at an NYC public school, and when we moved the piano out to the center of the floor, the entire pedal system fell off! It was at once hilarious and yet so sad! We gave the concert anyway, and just had a blast with the kids!
OMG ^^ hilarious yes, but not very practical ! Thank you for the thought :)
I've sang last week-end for a charity concert, and we got juste a small piano, and the piano wasn't on stage, but down in front of it ... So it was hilarious to sing on stage and seeing my poor pianist down ...
Funny organisation, when I came they asked me that the piano was related with the loudspeaker, and they wanted to know if I would like a mic ... No commentary, I was singing Vivaldi and Purcell ^^ Smile mode ON
wow, wow, and wow....you are sooooooooooooooooo good, i know this aria inside out and you are world caliber. You should see my parody, type on search (wenarto lakme) and laugh :-)
i appriciate your work but i suggest you read better the vocal score of this aria. and also i can recommend you to listen maria callas version. keep working a great voice must be a constant traning...
Brava! Excellent use of call-and-response with the echo! And just how old are you exactly? You look like you could be in Chamber Singers with me... and knock the girl in my class with the high A-flat out of the room!!!
I've been trying for a few weeks to get the notes right on this song.
Also, so sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you knew where I could get the lyrics to this song at, because I've been trying to find them for forever and can't.
I love Meryl too.. I just could get lost in that delicate little face. Her talent is, of course, unparalleled. Thanks for your kind words. I did what I consider a good word-for-word translation. I'll try to find a way to get it to you. Take care!
Your timbre is wonderful, I love the tempo [only a little faster than Dessay's version], your acting is great, and your upper register is marrrrrrrrvellous!
The only difference between you and the famous soprano divas of today is luck or opportunity. Exquisite performance. Best wishes to you in whatever you plan to do with your talent.
Thank you very much. I think that's why youtube is such a great forum. There's so much talent on this planet, and now people have a chance to share their gifts. That's a great thing! God bless, MariacaXXX!
The bell song is a very complicated mix of coloratura demands and a taxing use of the upper register. I give you much credit for experimenting with this difficult music. You have a wonderful upper extension to your voice. Brava for this wonderful reading. And the best of luck in your future career.
Uh oh, Angelica! Strong language, possibly fightin' words for those fervent devotees of the infamous duet! I have to admit that I have more fun singing this aria, though! Thanks for the positive feedback. Take care,
I want to thank you for your beautiful words of appreciation and encouragement. I have been singing here, there, and everywhere that anyone will listen... I do a lot of outreach work with young people and it really feeds my soul. I have a disc of sacred songs, Sacred Spaces due out later this month. I'll post it so that everyone knows when it's available. God Bless! - And please keep listening!
Thank you so much. You're my first comment. I am glad that you enjoyed it. I have decided to sing what I want just the way I want and I hope that others do the same. I respect the vision of a composer and generally try to adhere when necessary, but I think that a composer could only be flattered to have inspired the artist to explore their work in different ways... Highest and best to you.
