well what are you trying to do. if you spawn an enemy npc (combine, head crab, zombie etc) it will automaticly attack you. if u spawn a friendly (citizen,barney , alex) then theyl attack the enemys or just stand around, if u get to close they will walk awya. unless u use the disable ai option in the spawn menu OR type "notarget" i think into the console. not sure if u need cheats enabled or not.
