Tablets can cost very different prices depending on how fancy you want it to be. There are simple small ones like the one I use that are only about $80 or you can get really big ones with screens on them for $400+

You can get them in most electronic stores (not little ones like Radio Shack though), my mom got me this one at Circuit City before they went out of business. Or if you don't live near a store like that you can order them online from somewhere like Amazon. New ones still in the package go for pretty cheap there.

Drawing on paper is sometimes dirty and you can't completely erase your mistakes, as with a tablet and Manga studio, Paint Tool SAI, Photoshop, its clean and you can do all sorts of ideas without having to worry about eraser marks.

Is it hard to use? Are tablets a huge change from drawing with regular pencil and paper? I was thinking about getting a Wacom Bamboo Fun but I want to know more about how people think of them first. Are you liking yours?

Not at all! very easy to use, and feels very natural

Personally, I felt so comfortable with it I started using it as a mouse

lol, i couldnt do that change... to... rough. right now, i am doing a Portrait of James for Art. and I'm using graphite and shit, with the smudging, and eracing and i dont think i could do it, but you must be amazing. when i get it done i should post it for you to see if you want

oh i love, the other art stuff, and fYI Graphite is the stuff used in pencils. but its messy and tricky, but i got it... close enough, but i love the other forms of art, like Painting, but my forte is CGI and Film and Video and Editing, directing and shit

Lol meh knows what graphite is, but because you specifically said it I figured you meant stick form, not contained in wood. Editing is fun though, especially cgi work.

Oh, we're using it as a powder, we dip a piece of paper towel the powder, and apply a midtone to the paper, then use eracers and Pencils to darken and lighten area's, really fun if you know what your doing. and im majoring in Media arts (Film and video mainly) wanna see one my videos look at RUN!! its a rough start but a good one that got me almost 100 for 19 percent of my overall mark

Makes it feel like you're drawing with a pencil and paper. =)

Can also be used as a regular mouse.

Well size is preference, but usually when you get bigger ones they have a lot more features built in that make it expensive- although some like me also consider it a bit... cluttered. especially if its your first tablet

also with size it's a bit like mouse sensetivity- a small tablets pen would move across the screen quickly, the bigger tablets would move very slowly

when you start moving towards the bigger tablets, "cheap end" could mean $900+

Mostly I was looking for any distinct difference between a small bamboo tablet and a medium sized one. From what it looks like a monitor like mine (about 16 something inches) would be best with a small tablet.

its about 3.6 x 5.8 inches

it may seem small but when u actually get it, it feels so natural to use as a mouse and to draw with

and its VERY cheap for how good it is
