Great upload. Thanks. One minor thing: you should use the original color still of the movie and not this red tinted one which feels less intimidating...
Anyone know where this iconic car is today? Last I heard, the close up car was given to the fellow who consulted on the movie and hasn't been seen since.
the unnerving spooky feel of the music goes along PERFECT with the uneasy spooky atmosphere of the movie itself. Especially the out of tune sounding strings or whatever that is behind the brass at 1:20. That's just plain odd sounding.
INTIMIDATING!!! I loved this from the first time I saw it on the old ABC late night movies. This music has stuck in my head ever since. The movie is one of the greatest thrillers of all time. I saw this & "Duel" with Dennis Weaver around the same time. Another masterpiece.
rf3963 can you give me the photo's you got of the car because i am thinking about making a replica of this car i have already started making a prep one from wood and i need photos of the real thing
I just saw one of them at the Hollywood car show here in NY I forgot to ask G barris how MANY he made since I know they blew at least ONE in the rollover scene. Are you sure it was a MArk III? i thought it was a 4. Anyway. Where did you get this cool backround info? there is so LITTLE about this movie OR the Car on the web. I have pics of the one I saw if anyone wants copies. Good shots
Thanks for uploading this smattering of highlights from this score. It's a lot of fun to listen to. Hope someday someone might put out the original tracks on a CD or re-record them for a release.
@RogueRotting360 Right you are! Good ear. :) The 13th century tune has two spellings. One is "Dies Irae" or "Day or Wrath." Another is "Deus Irae" or "God's Wrath." Both refer generally to the Day of Judgment. Scary stuff, appropriate to those Middle Ages, when scaring people away from sin was more in vogue in the Church. :) So it was in Church music.
"Deus Irae." It means "Wrath of God." It's from the 13th century and was incorporated into the Roman Catholic Mass music. Rachmaninoff

This sounds like the same tune as the shining, just at a different tempo. Has anyone else ever noticed that?
Bricklin1990 1 year ago 3
@Bricklin1990
It's a classic theme which is also used in shining, you are right
