In Chechnya, most of its population is -and always was- on the Russian side. Sadly, those Chechen bandits scum used peaceful population
as a meat shield, so heavy losses (on both sides) were inevitable.
The main problem, those inevitable losses turned some part of normal population against Russia -like current president Kadyrov -but later they returned on Russia's side anyway.

what would russians do if Americans came to russia and started handing out passports and telling people they are American citizens. Russia did the same thing on Georgian territory to destabilize the political situation they handed out passports and encouraged rebellion, not to help the people but to give themselves an excuse for war. Russia did what it is good at, using people for russias ends.There are thousands of former russians living happily in my city and they don't want to go back.

But. By some mysterious reasons, not many of them want really to live in the US. For example, famous Kasparov. He is armenian jew. Why doesnt he live in Baku or Tel-Aviv? He cries all days long, how terrible Russia is. Who asks him to live there? Enigmatic masochism. I'd recommend him move to America asap. But. He doesn't want to go somewhere.
