  • not on iTunes... :/

  • Did this song get any play on any U.S. R&B stations? Because I vaguely remember this from when I was like.... two.

  • LOVERBOY, the movie not the band.

  • Who's the skirt in the video?

  • @loganfield I googled a couple of sites about them and the girls aren't even listed as band members. They may just be in the video for show and they may have just used studio singers for the woman's part.

  • I use to love this song ! Hell I use to live for videos!!!!

  • GIant Steps were NOT signed to Vendetta Records. They were on A&M in the U.S., though, so you're half right.

  • The girls in this video are HOTT!!!!

  • Yep, heard this yesterday during the Another 80s Lost Hit segment on Sirius XM 80s on 8 Channel.

  • sounds very Scritti Politti-like....LOVE IT!! lol i was 15 or 16 when this came out. WOW...blown away. feeling so old!! LOL

  • my dad used to listen 2 this stuff in the 80's he had this on record

  • I love both versions!

  • hehe I think it's up there with rick astley oh well :P

  • I love the 80s and 90s, I grew up at that time. But this tune just stinks lol. So cheezy and not even in a good way. Thumbs down for me sorry!

  • omg...i'd forgotten about this one, too....i'm totally od'ing on late 80's/early 90's this week....lol love this!

  • @vivandav67 I know the feeling. :)

  • I'm 98% sure that Campsie is wearing a toupee here! LOL

  • 1988! Some funny ish, in retrospect..... but this whole album was good. This was definitely not the best song on it. Campsie & McFarlane produced alot of big hits for other artists, but didn't have as much success as Giant Steps.

  • jody watley?

  • Love this song, I got the LP and its brill.

  • This was the lick back in the late eighties...Dancateria...N.Y.C

  • The guitar player is cousins with my cousins partners dads cousin (ie my cousins partner is 2nd cousins with the guitar player!!)

  • love this music, check out my channel, just hit markryan1963, over 650 music videos..

  • You hardly hear this song on the radio anymore. Only rarely does it come on, like on say "Back to the 80's Friday Night" at one point in time.

  • i remember night tracks and this song was my song!

  • love this song....but they were pretty much

    a Scritti polliti/Style council clone....

  • Man, I have this 12 inch single and it's crazy funky..Love this tune..

  • I really wish this song was available on iTunes.

  • One of the best and, sadly, most forgotten tracks of the 80s. Excellent.

  • lol at Patrick Dumphey!!!

  • This song was played in the beginging of the movie with Patrick Dumphey called Lover Boy just a classic hint..

  • he sounds more like climie fisher (however he spells his name)

  • You are so right.. i heard this when i was a kid.. He sounds like Climie but doesnt look good as him but whom am i to say

  • Climie Fisher was a BAND, not a person. I think the "Fisher" was one of the guys from Naked Eyes but I might be mistaken.

  • Rob Fisher was one of the Naked Eyes duo.Unfortunately,he died quite a while back.

  • rob fisher....from N-eyes.

  • @Filmation77 ....no, Fisher wasn't in Giant Steps.

  • Holy Sht!! NiIght Tracks!!!! Talk about blast from the past!! And you even got the intro. How cool is that!!

  • Was the singer associated with Scritti Politti? If not this is a total ripoff of the sound.

  • No association with Scritti Politti, but it was definitely a similar sound.

  • @kcaj789 ...damn, I guess that's why I was such a big Giant Steps fan (and I really was... have ALL the 12" singles, etc.) lol.... Scritti is my favourite "group."

  • Oh, my early days in radio! This wonderful track came out at the same time as Boy Meets Girl "Waiting for a star to fall" - one still always reminds me of the other, despite this being an absolute stiff in the UK and the a other massive hit..... I gave this song so much airplay. Amazing to think we just played what the hell we wanted back then....... Still have the 7" picture sleeve single on A and M . Happy days.

  • @bearboydave ...hey, that's kind of a rarity in the U.S! I've never seen a 7" pic sleeve for this single. Just the generic A&M sleeve for the "New Bass" version. I do have all the 12" singles from the LP, including the one for my favourite track "Book of Pride." It's so cool that you were in radio then. I do know what it was like then, the freedom you DJ's had. I was a mobile DJ when this came out, and played it MANY times. :-) Not to mention the Boy Meets Girl single! Awesome stuff, man...

  • @Tre404 - Good to hear from you, Tre404. And I'm still in radio :-)

  • @bearboydave... Are you really? What a very different thing it must be today compared to 1988! And I guess I misunderstood, you are in the U.K. (hence the Giant Steps pic sleeve, right?). Strange that this song did so poorly there; Scritti's music didn't fare well that year in the U.K. either, as I recall. What was going on there musically that these good songs were ignored? Was it Stock-Aitken-Waterman's chart dominance or something like that?

  • this song was in my head a few minutes ago and i thought i'd search for lol, i know iam old cuz i really remember this!!!!

  • @desariec ..you are NOT old... you just have good taste.

  • @Tre404 lol thank you!!

  • I tried so hard to be the long lost twin of the girl in this video!!! *sigh* How I loved this song back in the day-thanx 4 the memories!

  • @1CurVQT ...i'm sure you've done just fine all on your own.... judging from the cute name.... ;)

  • Yeah its scritti formed and also the singers voice!

  • @karaokekungen ...no, it is not Scritti formed. And the singer is Colin Campsie, not Green Gartside (from Scritti).

  • I have not heard that song in 21 years -so it was another one of those great "flash "moments. I wonder how I could have forgotten.

  • wow,this takes me back.

  • WOW!!! I truly miss hearing this. GREAT UK Pop/R&B. I've always been in love with this 1!

  • I agree with So Eighties, was direct take off from Scritti Politti, I thought it was them at the time. Great song though, admitted

  • She has the Jody Watley outfit goin on, I miss those days... gawd Im so old..................

  • I remember watching BET and they use to play this video, it was the JAM back in the day. Great SONG!

  • Totally agree about sounding like Scritti Politti - but to me that's not a bad thing. Still sounds good.

  • Love this song

  • Always loved this number. I know the boys didn't like the comparison, but it does sound like Scritti Politti. Sorry guys!
