@loganfield I googled a couple of sites about them and the girls aren't even listed as band members. They may just be in the video for show and they may have just used studio singers for the woman's part.
1988! Some funny ish, in retrospect..... but this whole album was good. This was definitely not the best song on it. Campsie & McFarlane produced alot of big hits for other artists, but didn't have as much success as Giant Steps.
@kcaj789 ...damn, I guess that's why I was such a big Giant Steps fan (and I really was... have ALL the 12" singles, etc.) lol.... Scritti is my favourite "group."
Oh, my early days in radio! This wonderful track came out at the same time as Boy Meets Girl "Waiting for a star to fall" - one still always reminds me of the other, despite this being an absolute stiff in the UK and the a other massive hit..... I gave this song so much airplay. Amazing to think we just played what the hell we wanted back then....... Still have the 7" picture sleeve single on A and M . Happy days.
@bearboydave ...hey, that's kind of a rarity in the U.S! I've never seen a 7" pic sleeve for this single. Just the generic A&M sleeve for the "New Bass" version. I do have all the 12" singles from the LP, including the one for my favourite track "Book of Pride." It's so cool that you were in radio then. I do know what it was like then, the freedom you DJ's had. I was a mobile DJ when this came out, and played it MANY times. :-) Not to mention the Boy Meets Girl single! Awesome stuff, man...
@bearboydave... Are you really? What a very different thing it must be today compared to 1988! And I guess I misunderstood, you are in the U.K. (hence the Giant Steps pic sleeve, right?). Strange that this song did so poorly there; Scritti's music didn't fare well that year in the U.K. either, as I recall. What was going on there musically that these good songs were ignored? Was it Stock-Aitken-Waterman's chart dominance or something like that?
not on iTunes... :/

GIant Steps were NOT signed to Vendetta Records. They were on A&M in the U.S., though, so you're half right.

You hardly hear this song on the radio anymore. Only rarely does it come on, like on say "Back to the 80's Friday Night" at one point in time.

Climie Fisher was a BAND, not a person. I think the "Fisher" was one of the guys from Naked Eyes but I might be mistaken.

Rob Fisher was one of the Naked Eyes duo.Unfortunately,he died quite a while back.

Was the singer associated with Scritti Politti? If not this is a total ripoff of the sound.
Wiser72 2 years ago
No association with Scritti Politti, but it was definitely a similar sound.
