  • will this work on transitioning or relaxed hair?

  • @AmaVintage Yes it will..just be gentle so you dont cause any breakage to your own hair. =)

  • Thanks. I liked the video. I have micros and i'm about to take them out this weekend because i miss my hair and i want it to grow out.

  • Thanks for the idea! It helped alot w/reducing the amount of time getting my micro's out. It took me longer than 2 hours but it's no telling how long it would have taken me had I not seen your video. So, thanks alot! Do you have any good videos for what to do after I finish this deep conditioning that's great for hair that's been under micros for awhile?

  • GENIUS!!!! That's all I have to say...I just braided my hair like a week and a half ago, lol, but I'll use this for removing them in about 2 months; It'll work even faster b/c it usually doesn't take me more than 2 hours to begin with. Thanks so much! ^_^

  • takes me 3 hours. You are just a genuis gurl thats all that is lol

  • I just used this method to take out my micros! It worked like magic! I was done in 1.5 hours! Thanks for sharing!

  • OMG!!!! I think your a genius....im actually excited to try it now :) SUBSCRIBED :):):)

  • THANK GOODNESS I found this video!! I was about to start taking my braids today actually, thinking i would have to do it over a week's time smh THANKS!!

  • i wish i had seen this when i was taking down my micros =/ it took me 15 hrs =/

  • You are adorable!

  • i tried this and i didnt turn out right still took a long time

  • @princessgboro Sorry it didnt work for you

  • Awesome. I'm about to do this right now!! Thank you so much for this video!

  • This is how I removed mine as well. Then i discovered this product called Unbraid. This stuff is magical! I then use conditioner once each section is complete. I have one question....what type of hair was this that your hair was braided with? Thanks for sharing. I love your vids!

  • @sexualbutterfly Thnks for the info...will look that up next time. I believe it was Yaky Straight...or something like that. I bought it at Sally's Beauty Supply

  • @MsVcharles Thanks so much for responding. I just found it in your other videos. LOL! I just stumbled across it. Thanks for all of the great information you provide. I'm a subbie now.

  • This was such a cute vid... great technique and fab personality

  • Great video!!1 I had a horrible time taking out my micros. I will use your technique next time. How long were your braids in?

  • hehe..u make me giggle jus watching....thank u for the video, i will give it a try ^_^

  • I am soo happy I have found you & this video. I was worried that I would have a really hard time taking out my micro braids, almost made me rethink if I was going to get them or not, but now that I have them in and this video to watch I have no worries :) Thank you !

  • That's how I do mine...except for the cutting. I don't do extentions and so don't want to cut own hair. Great vid...love the faces you make.

  • ok soo i just took down my braids as in like yesterday. didn't know it was that easy you are a angle from heave ... i don't think i ever say this to a women i love you lol

  • Thank you. I just took my braids out and this video was my inspiration. Thank you for taking time to teach this technique.

  • If the ends are tied will they comb out as well? My hair goes past the point where it's tied.

  • dose it work for really small twist as well???

  • I think you just be came my hero! It took me forever to take out my micros... you made that look soo easy and quick... Thank you so much for posting that!!!

  • Oh, what a great idea!!!!!!! I love you.

  • I'll be removing my micros either today or tomorrow, hopefully ( waiting on my tangle teezer to arrive lol) and i was wondering if you did this, with the ends tied? Im guessing no, because mines are and i'm guessing i need to remove each and every band separately before i do this.

  • @Recklessfire0 Actually my ends were tied thats what I was cutting off.

  • @MsVcharles

    Ah,Thanks :) Good to know!

  • wow tha was fast who told you about this?!

  • @TheCon08 I saw PhillyDiva's vid on it.

  • @TheCon08 As well as a few co-workers of mine.

  • that was awsome that you i love it you did a good job

  • Can these types of braids do damage to your edges.? How do you prevent the damage?

  • @suchaBigKiddo ANY type of braids and styles will and can be harmful if not maintained properly.

  • Hi i just wanted to know what did you do about your knots did you cut the prior to doing this? I want to use this method but I don't know if it will work for me since i have invisible braids and only about an inch of my hair is braided.

  • @123Chinadoll The cutting I did in the video was me cutting off my knots

  • how long do you keep your braids in?>

  • @monasiymone I only kept these in for two weeks. Yarn braids I keep in for 4 weeks.

  • Hi, i will be taking out my braids this weekend and want to try this method, but i have a question pls!! what do you do after deep conditioning? do u then wash ur hair with shampoo and apply ur regular condtioner? thanks in advance :)

  • @AfrikanBaby That would be correct. I wash afterwards, do a rince conditioning, and proceed with my moisturizing, sealing and styling.

  • @MsVcharles Perfect...Thank u so much for the quick reply!!

  • Hello Ms. V, I just happen to stumble on your video and I can say that this is so helpful to me. I love braiding my hair, love wearing my hair in braids, HATE taking out my braids...until now!! I will be using this technique. I am currently transition, six months since my last perm...oy vey sometimes i am tempted to perm, but i resist, oh well... i am rambling. Again thanks!

  • nice technique, a lil nervous about a fine tooth comb. lol Omg.. I need to learn a quick techniquw to romove yarn braids... help! I plan to put in a set formarch, the yarn twists I currently have in will be a breeze to remove. ;O) x

  • ... why have I never thought of doing it this way? I always used to take one at a time. This is BRILLIANT! *pats you on the back*

  • I recently just got Micro's and my hair is almost as long as the braids would i just cut the knot and follow the same technique?

  • @beautiful76179 Yes sis...but ONLY if your hair is not being cut.

  • Girl!! You have no Ideaaaa!!! Thank you for making this video. It literally takes me 2 days to take out micro braids lol.

  • Wow thanks for this awesome video I have micros too and will be taking them out soon. I was just wonderin how long it was gonna take me to get them out thanks to you I dont have to spend all day taking them out!!!!!!

  • i was so excited when i first saw 2 hours! lol it took me like 3 days to take my braids out because the braider wouldn't braid to the end of my real hair. (she was gonna charge me an extra $50 O_o) so if i cut the ends of i would have cut a lot of my hair off :-/ but i BC'd in december so i won't have that problem if i decide to get them again. thanks for the tip :-D

  • Thank ya..Now I know when I take mines down in couple months I will surely try this..I just got mines done a week ago....thanks for the help

  • I'm getting micros next week & I am wondering how do you suggest I prep my hair for them. Should I deep condition, protein treatment, blowout or not....HELP PLEASE!!! lol

  • great vid.

  • OMG!.....Genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!...I plan on taking my braids down tomorrow....Thanks soooooooooooooooo much for this tip. I just LOVE your videos, I always learn something new!

  • @efomkenma No prob sis! If you ever have anything to ask or any concerns...please feel free. It may take a few days (because Im getting more messages/comments lately) but I will answer. =D

  • great video

  • I tried it. It worked. Thanks. I though It would take me hours but I did it in about 2! :)

  • Great vid!! I will have to try that!!!! Thnks

  • do you have a video on how you did that bun on the back of your scarf?

  • @megaHipps Yes, vid #9

  • is this how i would take out yarn braids?

  • @kelikelbelle Sorry sis but this wont work on yarn braids. Check out my vid #22 for that. =D

  • @MsVcharles ok thanks

  • Oop I see you already answered my previous question. Another question: You deep condition with the VO5? Or did you add something else too? I still haven't gotten the hang of deep conditioning. Is it better on dry or wet hair?

  • @myzzio In this particular situation yes, since the V05 was already in my hair that is what I deep conditioned with. However this is not my staple deep conitioner. I use Aubreys Organics GPB Deep Conditioner on dry hair (before my weekly shampoo) and I also use it after my shampoo as well (my hair can take all the protein, but depending on your own hairs protein sensativity level you may be able to do it more or less).

  • Does that technique work for yarn braids too?

  • @myzzio No this wont work with yarn braids. I have just reposted a vid on my yarn braid removal. Check out my vid #22 to see how. =D

  • NO WAY that QUICK and EASY? I was always wondering how these girls find the time to take out such small braids, so i was like im never gettin micros, but this method is awesome, i just might get micros one day! :D

  • I have never seen this method, super cool! I want to try it but I'm scared it will only work on shorter hair.. I'm passed shoulder length already.

  • Lol i thought i was the only one that took mine out like that i dont comb em out i get in the shower and wash em out

  • My niece will have to see this video. It takes her an entire day to get hers out. She must see this. lol

  • Will this work with yarn braids/ twists too or just synthetic hair? Girl, I just installed my first yet of yarn twists! I started my protective style regimen SO LATE. I wanted to start in November but no matter... I want to keep protective styling until April and let my hair rest!

  • @wesleyanne2007 No sorry, this method wont work with Yarn Braids. I have to repost my vid on taking out yarn braids still. As far as other braids, yes, it should work. I have even done this method on my own natural hair when I attempted mini twist.

And good luck with your protective styling!

  • OMG yes!! I just got microbraids done for the first time and was dreading the takedown process.

  • thank you very much. :) your videos are helpful ... i am restarting my natural hair journey

  • That looks super easy! Thanks for sharing.

  • my braids have knots on the end...will this still work?

  • @ashleynmoore12 Mine did as well...that's what I was cutting off with the scissors. Just be careful not to cut your hair. =D

  • Wow! I have to try that. I've spent as much as 8 hours unbraiding my micros... SERIOUSLY!!! UGGGHHHH!!!! I'm gonna try it. THANKS!!!

  • omg girl, last time i had these braids in it took forever to take out. It was my first time having them and i think what the person who did my hair did, was knot the ends and have my ends out instead of braided all in. I'm sure that can't be good, at that time though I was transitioning. I wish i could do these braids myself, I need a good protective style. Great video! You made this look so easy!

  • @Recklessfire0 Yea I put knots on mine as well. She had your hair sticking out?? Por que why?? LOL!

  • @MsVcharles OMG , So It Still Works If You Have Knots On The Ends !? ( :

  • @lessonlearned831 Yes, just cut off the knots as I demonstrated in the video. Careful not to cut your hair though. =D

  • @MsVcharles Thank - You SO MUCH For This VIdeo !!

  • Comment removed

  • @babines42 How cool is that! I hope it works well for you sis! =D

  • wow I never ever heard of that technique before. the timing for this video is perfect since i'm going to take my braid down in a few days! thanks for sharing!

  • OMG WOW!.... im amazed. how can you be sure you're not loosing hair? and will this only work on shorter hair? mine is APL, that will be a LOT of detangling wouldnt it?

  • @jemy1415 I actually saw this technique from someone with longer hair than mine. Im sure it will work for you however it may take just a bit longer and you have to be very careful/gentle.

The way I always be sure to check for normal hair shedding vs breakage (no matter what style I wear) is by looking for the bulb at the ends of my shedded hair. If you see the bulb (little whilte ball at the tips of your shedded hair) then it okay, but if you dont find it then you have a problem...breakage.

  • @MsVcharles THAT WAS A FASTTTT REPLY!!! lol but thanks a lot! i'll try this next time i get braids!

    xoxo

  • @jemy1415 LOL...no prob. Please let me know how it works out for you when you try it. =D

  • WOW! this is amazing omg I never thought of doing this. I can't wait to tell my mother about this idea. AMAZING!

  • your hair is growing so well! :-)

  • Wow!Great technique. :)

  • How clever! And look how healthy and moisturized your hair is underneath. Can't wait to view the length check/blow out.

  • awesome video,,,i've never seen it done that way before, think of the money you same taking them out yourself and no damage to your hair.

  • i'm supposed to get kinky twists today but i may just have to try micros! thanks so much!

  • wow... blown away! really. how did you learn this technique? and you should only use a rattail comb right?

  • @whimisicalbliss Someone at my job does this for her daughter and PhillyDiva also uses the same technique with the conditioner for slip. =D

  • @whimisicalbliss Sorry forgot your second question...lol. No you dont have to use a rattail but depending on the size of your braids/twist you may need to use a smaller or wider tooth comb. =D

  • Wow, girl you have made me a believer. When I read the title I thought "oh yeah, she is trippin. what's the joke"...LOL...I just might get micros again after watching this :)

  • @LuvinMeFirst LOL...I can be serious too...sometimes. LOL! =D

  • wow!!! great vid!! I love that idea. before my hair journey, i had micros once in my life, and after 2 days of taking them down, i vowed i'd never get them again. but now, i'm rethinking it. thx!!

  • I am really loving your channel. You always have quick, cute and cool things going on with your hair! Keep up the great work!

  • Does this method work on kinky twist as well?

  • @taneshiawalton09 To be honest with you Ive never had kinky twist before but I dont see why it wouldnt work. Depending on how big the twist are you may need to use a wider tooth comb. And dont forget to use LOTS of conditioner and be gentle. =D

  • OMG!! It literally used to take me DAYS to take down my micros!! This is such an awesome technique!! Thanks for sharing hun!!

  • @MsChanteJ72 WOW...well not anymore sis. =D

    No prob!

  • That is such a GREAT technique!

  • awe this is why I do half sew in half braids. I am to lazy for all that take down.

  • @lolagloss Ive never done it that way before...I may try it one day soon. =D

  • That's a great idea! I wish you would've told us about this earlier!! Shame on you MsV LOL!

  • @vculover23 I sowwie! =D

  • @efomkenma It sure will. Just use a LOT of conditioner and remember to be gentle. Also you may want to use a comb with wider teeth depending on the size of the plaits. =D

  • OMG! you've helped me out so much---no more asking mom for help and hassling for over four hours to take out box braids.

  • wow, your hair is really looking great.

  • @iwlbantm06 Ohh...sorry about that sis. When I get to the edges I always make sure to have a very firm grip on the braids so that I dont tug on my own hair too much. Well your next experience should be so much better. Let me know how it works for you when the time comes. =D

  • Your hair is growing!

  • man, that was quick! thanx for the vid!♥

  • @shadymccoy7 No prob! =D

  • wow! now thats quick. now, all i need is a quick way to put the micro in...lol. great video. Be bless

  • @elovesp1 LOL...tell me about it...lol! God Bless you too! =D

  • your smile is contagious girl!! great vid :-)

  • @cuddlemekiki Thank you! =D

  • Wow this was a really easy method. I may just put some braids in after all because the takedown was so easy!

  • @KinkyKurlyKham Which is exactly why I didnt mind only having these in for 2 weeks...lol. =D

  • I recently took out some micro braids in my hair (my own hair). It took me 8 hours! When your hair gets longer, pleaassse come back and do a tutorial on this. It's quicker when hair is shorter.. but now that my hair has reached collarbone length, I don't think I'm going to micro braid it again unless I have some help to take them out!! :) Thanks for the great vid again!

  • @unicqueky Hey sis, you can use this very same technique on your own braided or twisted hair. Length should not be an issue...it will still work wonders. I actually learned from someone whose hair is way longer than mine. =D

  • Great vid. I wish the yarn braids were this easy to take out!

  • @ling1212tasa You and me both...lol!

  • your hair is getting longer! it's gonna be down your back soon..The conditioner is a good way of getting the braids out..

  • @trecey920 I cant wait for that to happen..lol. Yes conditioner is the key. =D

  • See, this is why you need to be a YT partner! You have the best tips. I would spend all day taking my microbraids out. Thanks, Ms. V!

  • @drelle504 Aww thanks! ^-^;;

  • glad i learned this technique!

  • @Mizzd3bonair Glad I could share. =D

  • nice vid v keep them mama!

  • @naturalstateofmind Thanks! I sure will. =D

  • u have such a cute smile!

    loved the vid!

  • @shawnafrom35 Aww thank you! =D

  • V have you evr tried yarn twists? If so, what do you think of them?

  • @TWEET629 I was going to do them on my second set (dont know if you remember me saying so). I started to do them but those sukers started to unravel on me...lol. I was like no thank you...last thing I need is to be in public and someone say, "is that.....YARN????" LOL! No one knows unless I tell them...Id like to keep it that way...LOL!

I would suggest looking up some yarn twist tuts here on YouTube. I found a few when I was interested and they look really cute. =D

  • Great vid V! As usual....YOU RAWK!!! But did I hear you say 2 weeks of experimenting and and Natural hair tutorials?!......Whooooooo hoooooooooo! I love ya chica and keep up the good work hun! God Bless! :)

  • @harold1994 OMGeee....I love your comment! LOL!!! Yea, I will be trying my bestest to style this hair of mine. Been a while since its been on camera...lol. God bless you too! =D

  • Thanks so much for posting this just in time! I'm sooo ready to take my braids out but was dreading the amount of time it usually takes. This video is truly appreciated

    Much love <3

  • @candikissluvr Aw no prob sis! Be sure to use LOTS of conditioner for extra slip! =D

  • Wow. Neat trick. Thanks!

  • @getlonghair LOL...No prob!

  • good advice!

  • @innovativethinkin No prob! =D

  • Does this work on yarn braids?

  • @flgcstudent Sorry but no...this wont work on the yarn braids. You have to use the pull method that I posted a while back. Speaking of I have to repost that video as well.

  • Great informative videos!

  • @dsugartwist Thanks!

  • Your hair is growing beautifully WOMAN!!!

  • @tmasala Aww thanks! =D

  • Now you tell me! Great tips. Love all your videos ;o)

  • @bigwdy27 Thanks! =D

  • Aww, your hair is so cute, like a lil-er girl:) Thats a good idea. Does it work for yarn braids? I posted my first yarn braid attempt:)

  • @Iamsonotmyhair LOLOLOL@lil-er girl! Thats cute! Thanks sis! Unfortunately no, it wont work on the yarn braids..you have to use the pull method that I posted a while back. Speaking of I have to repost that video as well. =/

  • Go Shero!! Thats the same way I take mine out... except I never thought to do the deep condition like that afterwards....GREAT TIP!!!

  • @TheCanaryDiamond Great minds thinking alike...lol. Thanks sis!
