  • recommend a video light?

  • again i will ask what are the lights at the top of the desk .............. maybe one day you will answer me

  • @wobblyman2000 there called "tix cloks" or something like that

  • Honestly i wouldnt really care about the whether or not i am getting exactlt 1080p or not, as long as the picture quality looks good. I think the DVDs that are upsampled on my PS3 with the panasonic 1080p - they look great.

  • A Photo at a Higher Res will look better when squashed cause it just adds clarity. But a video has to do more processing to squash the video down and make sure it is viewable. You can squash the video. Like a lot of 90's movies coming out on Bluray is just the bigger versions being squashed. So long as movies are in 3 and 4 k we can always make HD versions.

  • The reason Camcorders also are not at 8 or 10 Mega Pixels when shooting Video is cause a moving object blurs and in a since to your eyes fills in the blanks. 1.67 MP Camcorder looks good it 1080 video, but when you pause the video it looks bad that is cause when it is running your mind fills those blanks. Photos on the other hand are still and need high MP cause your mind can't feel in those blanks.

  • You forgot 1 issue with the cameras. Most cameras especially point and shoot, fail to even offer close to their native resolution. To find the true resolution of a camera, you need a resolution chart where you place the camera at a certain distance to fill the frame and you take a picture then you look at how many pixels per detail you are getting. (most modern point and shoots may claim 12-14 megapixels but often only offer 2-3 megapixels of detail on a resolution chart (DSLR's do much better)

  • lol the supposed "47" mp camera... wait isn't that from sigma???.....

  • I have a digital camera (off-brand) that is natively 5-megapixels, but has 8-megapixels if it's interpolated.

  • Interpolated image? Don't you mean extrapolated?

  • The Mega Pixel Myth. I like that. It's so true with cameras or anything else CES for that matter. Numbers on the front of the box don't tell the whole story. You can easily have a 5MP camera that has a better lens, better CMOS or CCD cencor, better encoders and in the end takes much nicer looking pictures than some "10 MP" camera. But if that's all people know to look for and it's on the front of the box most people assume the 10 MP is better because it's a bigger number!

  • whats a ccd?

  • Ya, I didn't completely understand all of that. You explained it well, I just don't have to prior knowledge to understand what the hell you're talking about.

  • does this apply to Atari or Vectrex

  • so is there a NATIVE resolution for televisions?.. that we could possibly ask when we purchase one?

  • Hahha is there anything this guy doesn't know

  • Is this the same scenario for old movies that are upscaled to hd for blu rays?

  • On PC, I can get REAL 1920x1280 gaming! True 1080p!

  • @gamedexterity 0.1% of console games are true 1080p

  • @gamedexterity first of all it's 1920x1200 second of all 1920x1080 is the native resolution for 1080p and last of all most of the game out there is NOT true 1080p

  • Glitch at 1:58 under the topic "good camera"

    Apple.

  • @waliasimarV2 forever a fag

  • I want to learn everything Brandon knows about technology.

  • Rihana vs Chris Brown...

  • apple vs banana

  • finally some quality videos from this channel.

  • Chris can you get Brandon to talk about ssd's?

  • So..basically HDTV is a scam?

  • @boneawl Nope

  • For my nephew: Boys vs girls. GO

  • Reactions is a quite nice feature.

    (Look to the right)

  • for clarification info on upsampled vs native HD

add to youtube tag ~ watch?v=y6xxZ3j5uiM

  • Why is there an echo of the audio Chris!, Is it the laptop getting the audio and playing it back?

  • Thts y some videos look better on 360p than 720p.

  • "You say tada that's close enough!" XD

  • Yeah upscaling happens A LOT on consoles and I unfortunately I notice it very easily and hate it.

I'd rather play games in "windowed mode" but at true resolution because the image looks so much better. Guess it all boils down to marketing...

Jaggedness is also another issue on the PS3 because of the lack of anti-aliasing.

  • jaggies = stair stepping

  • Video Games still have jaggies, not as much but still.

  • Brandon sensei!

    Sushi vs Burgers

  • Interesting video!

  • these 'VS' videos are the best on this channel. please keep them coming

  • @jacobmcnabb1 you're on the right track. bottom line.. your system must be able to product it, it MUST have hdmi, dvi, or display port, you must use the right cable from that port, and the display you're trying to send that 1080p rez to MUST have the appropriate port and MUST be able to display that resolution. Sorry for the long winded answers. Just being as thorough as possible. may i ask what laptop you have? brand, model info. etc?

  • something really good to know

  • 720p is HD, it's just not 1080p. If a signal is compressed to 720p and they claim it's HD, they are right. They just aren't giving you the best. But this only really matters for very large TVs (55"+). As for the camcorders, most of the time the video rez is listed in addition to the still rez.

  • very good, I'd do a follow up video with an actual product box and show the viewer exactly what output the camera/camcorder is capable of.

I know CoD has always run somewhere around 560-780 pixels max.

  • chris i have a question concerning my 2010 13" mbp...if i get an 128 ssd and install it onto my laptop will it be like a faster 2010 macbook air (same processor, more ram, both ssd, and more gherz)

  • @Chub2296 not much of a diff just The HDD Will Be A Little Faster..

  • @jacobmcnabb1 seriously i know it's annoying and please dont feel bad man. I went down that confusion " cable translation road" myself in 2001, 2004, and 2007 ( each year i finally remembered to do more research and TEST my what i read versus what i thought about certain cables). and for the record YES dvi cable WILL nativity work perfectly fine displaying 1080p resolution on a full hd monitor at 60 hz. If wanting more than 60 frames per sec, you'll need dual link dvi cable or hdmi. cheers

  • @jacobmcnabb1 a weird but just as honest example would be if you lived in usa and you owned a 10 million dollar brand new 30 ton pro grade oil drill with bit and you sold it to your customer in way northern canada near the artic ( like on Ice road truckers tv show) YEAH that drill WILL WORK and WILL fit in that area of course..but guess what..you can't transport that massive heavy ass drill on even a 3500 chevy truck in ice roads..you need a special diesel big rig. dvi or hdmi IS the big rig.

  • @jacobmcnabb1 the operating system will ALWAYS give you the option of TRYING to see if what you are connecting to your display WILL show up NATIVELY as 1080p. Windows 7 is designed to handle the last little parts of the " communication" process dealing with the transfer of all the pixels from your source (the blu ray optical reader drive for example and it's compatible blu ray media playing software "power dvd 10 perhaps") to what ever cable type you are using TO the display.

  • Love these Videos Keep em up!

  • facebook vs myspace vs google+ vs twitter?

  • good informative vid none the less fellas. I thumbs up'd ftr.

  • Dish and Direct tv BOTH broadcast in full hd. Brandon, a friend of my mother's works in the engineering labs for direct tv and it's no different than dish..both are satellite source driving, both have similar broadcasting hardware. you grab two EXACTLY allike tvs, one with a 4250hd box from CONcast ( yes there are the cisco boxes but the quality is the same and they are LESS reliable i speak from EXPERIENCE) and whatever 2 yr old or newer dish or direct tv box. Concast WILL LOOK worse.

  • this is why dish and direct tv ARE BETTER beside the tech support and customer service side of things. just some pixels for thought :P

  • the part where Brandon talks about watching 1080p involving comcast. I spoke to a tech that has been with Capitol Cable vision in Jackson ms since before i was born, Time Warner, then comcast bought them out in my area..He explained (when i spoke to him before leaving the company in feb 2011) comcast has no plans in the next 5 years to broadcast in TRUE real full 1080p or 1080i hd. They broadcast in 720p & their settop boxes UPCONVERT OR UPSCALE the video and images=customer ripped off

  • You forgot to say go.

  • @jacobmcnabb1 because 1080p is a quality that the D sub and blue vga cables cannot carry in terms of displaying movies and video content ( including pc native games). 1080p ( when you write or type out the FULL equation is actually a minimum of 1920 horizontal pixels x 1080 vertical pixels for 16:9 widescreen. VGA quality goes up to just UNDER one megapixel as in for example. webcam in ipad2's only are VGA meaning max out at around 640x480 or 800x 600 off memory. use dvi cable.

  • This type of video is great I knew most of it but now I have something I can link to people when they don't believe me.

  • You forgot the "GO!"

  • @erisfliestonight Let's put it like this: There are DVD Players, that do an impressive job, upscaling an image to higher resolutions and there are some Blu-Ray discs with an ugly image quality, compared to the DVD available. If you compare those, or if you compare an upscaled signal to a tv stream, you can claim, upscaling equals "true resolution". But if you have a really nicely done bluray image quality, upscaling doesn't go anywhere near true resolution.

  • @jacobmcnabb1 You need an HDMI cable for that.

  • Can you do a 720p vs 1080p video? I understand, but it be nice to send it to someone.

Also a 1080i vs 1080p video as well.

  • Btw PS3 does simply horrible job at upscaling (lack of dedicated hardware). Just a quick example, Bioshock2, looks like crap if you have your PS3 setup to output signal at 1080p, as soon as you limit your PS3 to 720p, game picks up framerate and visually improves.

Your TV\Monitor actually does a better job at upscaling, so personally I, taking in cosideration that almost all games (aside from some mini-games) never even actually hit 720p (always below) have my PS3 limited to 720p at all time.

  • I'm kind of confused about DVD players that say they can upsample to HD. Does this mean the TV will think the video coming from the player is HD but the quality will look bad?

Also, can an HD signal be passed over a coax cable? We have a combo VHS and DVD player and a lot of DVDs look pretty bad on our 1080p TV, but tonight we watched a DVD that didn't look so bad (not sure if it was full HD or not, but it didn't look like complete crap).

  • @lhamil64 1.- Actually it looks pretty good. The upscaling thing does a good job.It looks a lot better than a standard signal.

2.- Nop, you need a DVD player with upscaling technology and connect it to the HD tv with an HDMI cable

  • and this is why consoles are shit.

  • thank you, we are all now slightly dumber.

  • Why are they sitting so close? Their heads seem to be only about 18 inches apart. For me, that qualifies as "close talking", and is uncomfortable and unsettling. I require an absolute minimum of about 24 inches distance between my head and another person's head when engaging in conversation.

  • @AllUrUtubeRbelong2me Thanks Seinfeld!

  • OMG, HE DIDN'T SAY 'GO'

  • why is tv only in 720p and not REAL 1080P ????

  • @itouchhacker241 Because TV streams have to be as low-bitrated as possible, to make more TV channels available, among the available band width. Doesn't matter anyways, since most people have a that small TV and/or sitting that far away from their screen, that they simply cannot see the difference. Some also don't give the image resolution that much attention, so they wouldn't care anyway, as long as the commercials say the channel is HD. ;P

  • I always struggle with my iPhone4's camera when I try to upload to YouTube. It *says* it's 720p on YouTube but it just looks shocking.

  • Babies discover aliasing

  • Chris, you've changed!!..where's the discussion Juice???

  • wow good info guys, thank you so much

  • Some good information here. Thanks guys

  • Chris, I like this new style of your videos recently. The ones with this guy and the other guy talking about stuff. It really answers more questions, especially when YOU ask them questions. Keep up this style of videos.

  • standard def Direct TV and Dish network are 540x480 except for the PPV which usually used the full 720x480. same thing for HD, its usually 1440x1080 or less

  • I can just imagine Chris asking "What's the meaning of life? go!"

  • @0oDarkLordRevano0 That'd be a short video, the answer would be 42 of course!

  • For Digital Cameras: Digital Zoom is a scam, it just crops an image, Optical Zoom is real zoom. 2x optical zoom is infinitely better than 400x digital zoom.
