After watching this video, am tempted to go on holiday to push my 63 AMG engine on french roads. Just one of the best roads in europe and gorgeous landscapes :-)
Thank you for making this video, I did the route in 2008, I drove the Mercedes A-Class and I must say that this is the nicest way ever traveled, I left Milan and went to Cannes and back,
@SonicSouvenir Are you sure its 90-100 kph? Or do you mean 90-100mph? If I recall correctly, the speed limit on their motorways is 130 km/h for automobiles.
@ggharek Yes - I am very sure. I am driving a big RV / or motorhome as we call it here. The speed limit is much faster than I was going, but my vehicle is not exactly a stable speed monster - and have you seen those drops :-0
we travelled from newcastle via nancy, lyon, monico,genova and back home, 0n our motorcycles, best trip ever, the french riviera was class,tunnels and bridges,
lmao - I was waiting for someone to ask me that :)
When I pulled in he put the red X up to say he was closing, so I started to reverse out to go to a different booth. But he then beckoned me to go forward saying that the red X was intended for traffic AFTER me. So I went forward again. Of course, on the vid it looks like I am making a complete nerd of myself, which to be quite honest I'm quite capable of doing on my own without any help whatsoever :)
Thanks for the question. On the French side it is the Autoroute limit of 130 kph, but I think the limit in the tunnels is limited to 90 in straight tunnels and as low as 60 in some bendy tunnels. Sensible I suppose. On the Italian side I think the limit is restricted to 120. BUT it is Italy, and if you take any notice of Italian drivers - you soon learn that they think that speed limits are only advisory anyway ;-)
@SonicSouvenir Thanks for fast reply. Appreciated;) I travel to the French Riviera area quite often, but have never driven the A8 east of Nice. The scenery along the route looks quite spectacular. I guess the only place in Europe where true high speed driving is allowed is the Autobahn in Germany, although, as you said, some Italian drivers go superfast on parts of the Autostrada. We'll just have to sit back and enjoy the scenery and do the speeding in Germany..

The road looks narrow and curvy from Monaco into Italy. How fast can you go there? Speed limit?

@SonicSouvenir
The highest limit in alpes martimes (06) is 110, a few curves and tunnels with 90 but not lower
In Italy 130, 100 or 80 in the most dangerous parts - but youre right, nobody cares

No - but you are close :) A Motorhome, or an RV if you're American.

Haha - yeah, it was tempting to abstain from 'jumping' the valleys ... couldn't get enough speed up !!!
