Okay, next time i'll just grab the black marlin. Except this is a sailfish. Every shot I take is meant as a kill shot without intent to cause suffering, and the catch is brought in as quickly as possible. Thanks for the comment.
You can't just drag a big fish in mate, you have to play it just like rod and line. There's no point getting yourself skewered with its bill, or dragged down a couple of hundred feet for the sake of waiting 2 mins to play a big fish.
Exactly. Even though all spearos try for a kill shot, even an inch can make a big difference. Most importantly, a fish is subdued as quickly and respectfully as possible. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks! Filmed in far-southern Mozambique. Launched off Ponta du Ouro (right on SA/Moz border) and dived 11km north, off Ponta Mimoli about 3km out to sea on a reef system called The Pinnacle. It rises up to 29m from a surrounding 55m and is AWESOME.
Well done on the Saily dude! You are one of a few to pull this off...
I'm a keen freediver and spearo too, but havent shot a fish on 30m yet. I could easily get to 35m and stay there for a few seconds (+-15 sec), but in your experience, do you think it is adequate for a reef like Pinnacle?
Did you get the shaft back from the bull sharks?

Shit dude try killing the black marlin quicker next time. Letting it struggle around in pain is a bad image.
Grab it quick. Use your dagger and done.
