What I love about grunge is the variety of music to be heard. Take the big four (as I see it) Nirvana, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth and Jane's Addiction all were considered grunge but were stylistically very different from one another. I realize music isn't made for the Gen Xrs anymore but this Gen Y stuff is trash. It all sounds like a cadence, the same tired beats, monotone voices, and no bass.
@inasfar janes addiction and sonic youth are not grunge... dont ever classify those weenies in that category again.... they were good tho.. or should i say decent
you forgot Pearl Jam camp. But who cares? I dont think any is better than the other. They present different styles of Grunge... Different faces to a wonderful music scene. So for me its really all about personal preferences. They just cant be compared.
it seems 2 me that grunge fans a r always split up in groups, e.g nirvana camp or soundgarden camp. personally i like nirvana, soundgarden & pearl jam, i also loved guns n rose, metallia, rage against the machine & early green day. they all have their own style.
Does anybody's songs actually get attention on MTV??? Sure, they gossip about Brittney Spears and shit, but thats about as far as it goes. I remember when MTV was Mtv
@vikingdude17 Dude, they aren't underrated at all. They had 3 platinum records, 3 number 1 singles, 3 other top 10 singles, they are talked about with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Alice In Chains as one of the big grunge/alternative bands of the 90s. To call them underrated is an insult to the band.
Well, I like to just think of him as God now. To list everything he is a God of would take an eternity. So here is the short version, Chris Cornell is God.

I don't get genres. Soundgarden doesn't sound like Nirvana or Pearl Jam, even though both are great (excluding Pearl Jam).

Hmm that's funny...
I can't decide which band I like more cause there were so many good groups.
I just go through periods of listening to certain bands. Right now I'm stuck on Soundgarden, Screaming trees, and Pearl jam.

Im amazed at how few of Soundgarden's songs actually get attention on MTV and the radio. They have so many great songs.
In other words: Soundgarden is completely underrated, had the spotlight stolen by Nirvana and Pearl Jam
P.S. The Knights of the Soundtable reunite!!! Soundgarden is Back!
