I think women use put downs to motivate a man due to bad parenting and being conditioned to think that treating someone badly and manipulating them and being an emotional bully will get that person to do what you want because men do this to women too. Parents need to teach their children better than this so that their future relationships will not repeat a cycle of emotional and physical abuse generation to generation.

Oh, I agree. I do understand. And I do notice that when I notice the little things my sweet husband does, he does do them more often. I guess I just wish that someone thanked me once in a while for doing the dishes, taking out the trash, mowing the lawn, washing everyone's underwear--and putting them away, etc. etc. etc. (the list goes on, blah blah blah) ... That's what I thought of as 'pathetic'. Make better sense? :/
