Can you connect the kindle to your home wifi-router, share a folder and make it accesible over the home network? So you can copy over books directly from your laptop,..
@BizarrePuppet Yes. Unlike the nook it has a book list for the home screen. See the rest is in the menu option. But the kindle isn't a ipad. There is no super monkey ball it is a great EBOOK reader. There are a web option so you can use the web on it for free but it is free cause it can't show flash and it is a eink screen so everything is black and white. Also the kindle made amazon stock go up by 60 dollars
stop comparing the ipad with the kindle. if you want to replace your bookshelf with a small device, the kindle does that comfortably (small size, low price, light weight, big, easy-to-the-eyes screen, super long battery life). The ipad is simply a whole another story.
@alvadagansta The kindle is built for making your bookshelf for only unprinted copies of classics. The kindle is for regular use. It has FREE 3G unlike iPad but iPad is built to replace your laptop which it does in ways

@heretic98 No.... but my friends do. I am hopefully getting one. But my opinions are great. The kindle is a perfect ebook device for a hardcore READER. By that, you need to be able to say, I am going to read from my kindle. I would buy a nook if you are the kind of person who just likes style. The kindle is a black and white display but when I was using programming books I was stunned. The ebook store is much cheaper then the book store and I was able to get some of my favorite books on there

@IAMBRADLII The Kindle is far cheaper and uses electronic paper and so the battery life is immense. Ipads are for messing around with apps and showing off to friends, usually the kind of people that have the attention span of a newt.
A reader like this is for people who read books and don't care about things that slide around on a screen nicely.

My kindle DX died within a year. Not worth buying as ebooks are still more expensive than a second-hand version of a real book on Amazon.
