This works just fine until the bot starts dumping immortal/banshee all over you, then you're fucked.

An alternate way to achieve the aforementioned assfucking is not being able to land three 6 combos and four 5 combos within the first 60 seconds.

tl;dr - "Get really lucky" is not a strategy.

yeah this doesn't work unless you magically get 8 tanks all at once - one banshee, collossus, ultra, or muta and ur tanks are fucked. Did they upgrade the ai? Strats I've had measured success with are mass hydra or spam healing an ultra with either tank or hydra support, but have only won on hard so far.

@xcstacy2 Me too. I was right at the AI's door and had it to about 1/8 health and I got to their door twice and it was able to pop out an ultralisk and colossus and wipe out everything I had. TWICE.

@Aramyth008 ya this strat wasn't working for me, after about 30 tries I began trying the 2 ultras and healing them when they get low and after 5 or so attempts I got it. But still that was only hard, so I still have 2 higher settings to go, I don't think I'll ever get insane though. Basically I found that the first push with both ultras HAS to kill at least the first 2 towers otherwise just restart, but you need that first burst of combos before they start spawning mass units to help Good luck!

@KittiesJerusalem it works =) i just did it, u just gotta make sure to spam the hotkeys + make ghost as SOON as you get 8 tanks. the ghost dominate just about anything that can kill tanks, and if some tanks die, just make sure u have enough ghost out and make enough tanks to cover the deaths. got it on my 3rd try doing this strat

@Nashtak You gotta be extremely quick on the jewels... save up 1000 energy then get 3 tanks AT ONCE, then be really quick and just spam out tanks with the hotkey until you have the 8, then spam out ghosts like crazy!! you have to get 3 tanks at once, then spam out the rest (5 more) as quickly as you can... this requires skill and also of course some luck!!! It took me a while but I managed to beat the insane AI TWICE now... gl hf!

@Cuidrei This actually worked for me first try, after failing this video's strat for the umpteenth straight time.

I did have a lucky run of it, got my 6-chain achievement in the same go, but this one seems less luck-dependent. Lose the momentum with tanks, or if the cpu just happens to send the wrong units, you're toast.

If the AI gets even one or two air units (especially banshees) then your tanks are pretty much gone. I've noticed most of these types of videos don't show the AI getting any banshees.

The trick with the timing is that you need to build up the tank critical mass while your photons are taking the damage such that the tanks get "stuck" behind your photons and pile up. By the time photon line dies (or is about to) that's when you MUST have 8+ tanks and be PUMPING ghosts. if your tanks stay alive, they should never take damage, and you will just need to pump ghosts nonstop. NOTE:if you get tanks too fast or too slow, you push out too soon (and lose everything) or die too fast.

Just got this achievement and I want to point out CRITICAL points not stated here. First, the AI plays RANDOMLY. Sometimes, you will be steamrolled by the time you get your first tank out and there is NOTHING you can do. Disregard comments like "oh I got this on my third try"... it was blind luck. I earned 3000 points some games before computer even earned 3000 and I was crushed like a bug. WHEN you get your tanks is far more important than how many, unless you can get 8+ SIMULTANEOUSLY.

Nice strat, I was struggling to beat very hard for a while, but with this strat I beat insane the first try. Maybe I got lucky..dunno. (I only had 5400 energy when the computer had 7500 at the end of the game) I was practicing with bejeweled on the iphone to warm up too.

I suggest TURNING OFF THE SOUND, as this seems to help your mental process to go smoother. SERIOUSLY, TRY IT at least once. GLHF

A lot of people seem to have problems with this strategy or another, but most people just need to get faster for any strategy to work. I can only beat very hard now, but am working on faster matching. Lag is a major pain.

I can't get this strategy to work at all. Summoned 4 tanks and then summoned 2 more...everything I produce dies too quickly. I summoned the 1000 energy worth of tanks just as they were killing my first two cannons

took a few tries with my gf, but worked great. it's all about getting good combos at the right time to get tanks 4 through 8 out. once we got out 8 before their muta's came, it was gg due to the snipers. thanks for the strat.

Got it third go using this strat, timing is important. I can beat hard AI without using this strat but insane is impossible, so I'm not bad at normal starjeweled by any means.

I waited until they hit the second cannon line and planned ahead a little so I knew I could get as many siege tanks as once. Once I had 5, they started pushing forward, got my other 3 out in about 10 seconds then went straight for the ghosts. Rolled the AI in just under 4 minutes.

Thanks! Got it on my first try. I'm way above average at bejeweled though. For lesser players, it might take a couple tries but this strategy works well. I win about 90% of all starjeweled games with my friend. If you're consistent and fast, there is no luck in this. Tanks kill ground and ghosts kill air.

@TheTeighty Yeah but I've tried a couple times to beat the insane ai but I couldn't do it. I thought you had to abuse the fact that the ai doesn't use spells but I guess not. I can beat very hard ai because I get more points but insane is impossible.

This strategy relies almost entirely on luck, and I don't mean luck in getting lots of jewels lined up, it's that the AI always sends the same random groups of enemies. This strategy works great if the AI keeps sending in ground troops but if he suddenly starts spamming hydralisks you're screwed. My advice would be to try to be a little adaptive, keep the camera on his base, when he starts sending in air units you make a few ghosts, and use the abilites a bit too.

lol, ghosts are soooo much better. just switched to them and finally got the win, I didn't realize just how superior they are for taking out marines (which are the real enemy here, since single large units will get blown up by the tanks)

of course the most important thing is still luck. I didn't have any long combos but I was consistently hitting combos of 3 or 4, and the jewels didn't drop in a pattern where matches don't exist. it was actually almost a perfect copy of this video.

thanks for the video. looks like I had the right strategy, I just can't follow up a lucky start and finish it off fast enough before the AI comes back.

I was beginning to doubt if it was realistically possible. I mean, I even started out with a "for the swarm" combo, spammed out so many tanks, then followed with hydras (maybe ghosts are better though, for faster marine killing?).

Somehow it just wasn't enough, and eventually the marine swarm slowed me down, then I had ultras on my tanks.
