I think she meant it more in the terms of she knows how much Mariah wanted to become a singer and how she worked her whole life towards it that she didn't want Tommy to try and stop her career. This interview made me cry. I think that Mariah has been truly blessed and that she is such a sweet person by helping her mom and sister. In this day and age, people don't care about each other!
