You are WAY out of your league on many of the songs you are trying to play. If you want some real advice, slow down, learn some songs you can actually play correctly, then work your way up to playing faster stuff. If you keep hacking your way through these songs and playing them incorrectly, that's the way you will learn to play all the time... incorrectly. I'm not saying this to be mean, but simply because it's true and somebody needs to be truthful with you if you are going to improve.

Neck pickup + a heavy left hand + picking around your neck pickup allow you to squeeze out a rich and clear woman tone without your tone knob. Try it with some Gary Moore or Santana and you'll hear what I mean, you'll even hear it unplugged.
