Gut gemachtes Video, sehr informativ. Habe mir heute selbst das Zoom 4 gekauft. Prima, vielleicht sollten Sie weitere Anwendungs-Videos zu diesem Thema ins Internet stellen.
Can you tell me why you had to do that stuff on the computer? Why couldn't you just take the original recording and bounce it down to two tracks in the device? Why use the computer at all?
One more thing: How rigid is this device? Unlike the H1, Tascam DR100 and so forth, this recorder lacks microphone protection; The mics are exposed to physical danger like bumbs or so. I was thinkin of keeping mine in my camerabag.
Great video. You have convinced me even more to get meself one of these.
Actually there is no need for a computer to transfer the files to the multi track fuction as long as you record them in 16bit wav. . Then just select teh file and then select move. Thanks for the video!
Hi I'm Tom fron Chicopee Paranormal, I just got the Zoom H4N and I will be trying to capture EVPs with it. If I capture anything I will post it on my channel.
I went back to your video and studied it a little more. I had one of the tracks enabled so I couldnt perform the bounce function. I'm very thankful that you posted this because the manuel never mentioned that. Now I got it.
How do you play back the bounced track and assign it to a new project(to add addition recorded tracks). The operation manuel is confusing. Almost everything I've learned so far has been trial and error.
@ariesram74 Does yours have a "hiss" when you record? I got mine yesterday, and if I take the audio off the SD Card and play it in adobe audition, there is a distinct hiss?
Well, I really struggled figuring this thing out and the manual is not easy to understand. I wish it were a simpler device, but I do like the 4 track capacity. I'm sure glad this video was available to help out, though I don't understand why the manufacturer doesn't put a more detailed one on youtube, to really help people. Their manual is horrible.

Yeah, mine has a hiss if you have the recording volume up and mic far away. Try recording with the input volume as low as possible and the mics close as well. That's controlled on the right side. Experiment with different levels. I also use a Shure mic (with phantom power), which gives a a little better result than the internal mics. This thing makes a decent recording but not studio level pristine.
Dude you are so awesome for posting this video....Thank you so much. I don't normally leave text comments but you deserve a thousand thank you's. You're the man!
Great job b8, ths video is full of precious infos, i was expecially interested in understanding if i can use it as a guitar practice tool and it seems so!
Wel, you seem to know the H4n quite well so ... may i ask you one thing? Can i put a backing track on the H4 (maybe transferring an mp3 file though usb connection) and then decide to plug my electric guitar and play it using the built-in effects (i.e. a warm blues lead sound) over the backing track? Is it possible to do that in MTR mode or something else? Thanks in advance!
Super informative, thanks man. A real supplement to the manual. Giving me all kinds of ideas.

OK, let's be honest. This guy won't win the GQ award for his wardrobe but tons of informative stuff presented in an easy to understand way.

@Wistbacka Thanks, yeah that worried me too. The computer was just another option. believe you can do it all on the H4N just as ealily.

What'd make this one a bit better would be if you could do those functions from your PC mouse and keyboard once "docked" via USB. Wish list.

Hey thanks for your video! Is there away to hear only one track at a time? So since the files bounce does that mean it saves the old files?

Is it possible in MTR mode to simultaneously record a stereo pair and a mono track? In 4 channel mode it wants to use 2 stereo pairs...

Is it true that if you cut up your project to rearange it, the metronome gets cut up with it?
BrocWorst 2 years ago
As long as you don't drop or bump those built-in mics to hard it should be pretty durable right?
BrocWorst 2 years ago
very well explained. Nice choice for a demo track too. Black Swan is a great Thom Yorke track.

So that's what "Bounce" does! :) Cool! Very nice, though I would recommend changing the backlight to always stay on, for a review :)
