The plane was soooo well constructed that even with the main wing spars damaged, it was able to fly and land safely. The computer systems that boeing are so critical of were also essential to the survival of QF32. If the same thing had happened on a boeing (according to the pilots), they would have died.

I work for Airbus tankers and Im worried about this but the fact is that we are already building tankers for several countries and there will be more in the future. Airbus has recently overtaken Boeing as the most popular manufacturer in the world, airbus recently received an order for 180 aircraft (the largest single commercial aircraft order in the world). The 787 has been very popular (get your facts right, it has 874 orders) but its been loosing orders recently rather then gaining them, compare that to the a350, which has received 583 in roughly half the time.

@rob3rtall3n U got your fact wrong, Americans ppl consider Boeing R way of life + we trust R planes, USA is open market. Airbus + all its nut on Utube have been bad mouthing us in every they can. Airbuses are cheap copies of Boeings + I will not fly on Airbus just because its unsafe plane. It failed its1st flutter test + with a quick fix + its back. Other itme to consider the KC-135 is used on the Aussie Fueler + when it comes to expereinces Boeing has more experience building military planes.

@LottoWinner999 its true that boeing has the experience, but that doesn't make airbus unsafe. Besides, the new American tanker hasn't even flown yet. I wonder if its a denial thing, you dont want to fly on airbus because it will counter your belief that boeings are better. Airbus has quiter cabins, lower cabin altitudes and are better for the environment. They are no less safe then boeing, in fact, airbus' crash record is better then boeing's.

@rob3rtall3n Airbus has not broken one American record for speed, endurance, comfort and saftey. The new 787'S and the International are winning. Airbus made a big goof and that is they only have one engine and from now own you have to develop your own engines. The new fuel eficient General Electric engines can power a 747 by itself and Airlines are considering refitting new GE fuel efficent engines on older Boeings and Boeing will get all that work and not Airbus.

@LottoWinner999 that IS denial, the 747-8I has what, 33 orders, and it doesn't look like its going to change. GE is now considering offering the engine anyway to the a350, because it realises that it is the fastest selling aircraft in history. The Trent XWB is so good, and the a350 is so good, that traditional GE and Boeing customers (such as Hawaiian and Emirates) are now buying it. I cant help but wonder how long Boeing can live in such obvious denial.

@rob3rtall3n U must realize the A350 is a rip off of B787! Also Boeing is the Co-Developer +invested 500 Million Dollars N2 GEnexgen engine. Boeing gets 1ST every thing + priority cuz they know U Airfags would steal their wing design + try to steal their engines. Airfags has to develop its own research + development department. Airfags is locked from steaing new designs from Boeing. Airfags big mistake is betting on 1 engine design + Trent 900 is a noisy gas-guzling piece of shit that explodes.

@LottoWinner999 Ive personally flown on a a380 with the trent 900s, and it is far quieter, more comfortable and economical then any boeing equivalent. Airbus pioneered many of the commonplace aspects of airliners today, such as: composites and two man flight decks. The 787 was a response to the a330 in the first place, which boeing said wouldn't be as good as the 767 (oh how they were wrong). I would like to say on a personal level as well, why do you insist on calling then airfags?

Boeing put 500 Million into the co-development of the new GE Engine + alongs comes Airbus and they tried to steal it. Airbus will not have access to American technology to be used A350. Lets looks at some impartial countries, out of the USA and Europe. more countries have ordered more of the MRTTs then have ordered the 767. Look, in my opinion, it is perfectly legitimate to say that you want a plane build in your country, just say that that's why. Because if that's so, airbus spent millions on a project they would never have won anyway. That is unfair.
