Today I had to do one if the hardest things in my life so far, I stood next to my dying grandfather in the hospital and said goodbye and I love you for the last time. I stood by with my grandma and aunts as he passed on and my grandma told stories. He was in the Marine Corps and had been a prisoner of war in the Korean War for 999 days. He was a great man and will forever be in my heart. "Lost but never forgotten." To all the Marines out there thank you for your service!
I was born in Pensacola and lived near the Naval base. I can still remember being 2 & 3 yrs old playing in the yard at sundown. My day was not complete without Taps drifting into our little peaceful world. I had no idea what it meant, but felt moved by it even then. I would stand really still straining to hear every note. I would always tell my mother,"The angels are singing" little did I know, how true those words were. Thank you men and women for your service to the America!!
Taps. A million words...never could or will hit that spot in my being. At night in the rack they would play, far off. I would fall asleep thinking quietly what they are. Ten years went by in that bunk. Now twenty in my own. Confident I will always be moved by the simple strain of the chords. I feel lucky, to be moved by that.
Through the tears of mines eyes ... thank you for posting this video ... bless our country and all the troops who have and do continue to serve ... Don ...
God Bless our brave and honorable Marines, especially the fallen and injured. You head into the storm when everyone else flees, I'm proud to support you, Semper Fi, and come home safe!
