i also had the same dilemma but eventually decided to get the xperia over the iphone and this (im under rogers so i have limited choices) but regardless i took the iphone off my choice list because of the expensive plans and the fact that i prefer a phyisical keyboard rather than touch. besides its so much cheaper and the camera is better too which is a bonus

Got the iPhone 3G-S and i love it texting and typing is wicked with the new firmware that allows the key pad to flip sideways for the bigger keys.

Im not hating on the HTC either, i seen one in action the same day i went to get the iPhone and the HTC is wicked, and I love the aps are all free/open source, from what the dude told me..

I just went with the iPhone because Im not feeling windows mobile

I have this phone is in this exact color and I couldn't HATE IT more. The worst decision I've ever made with my mobile phones was to upgrade to this crappy phone.

The apps are STUPID!!! How many fart apps can someone have?

And the keyboard on the white is the WORSE. You can't see it in the daylight because the backlight blinds it so you have to either be in the dark or keep moving it around till the shadows are right.

And the sound leaves something to be desired.

opera only has opera mini for the g1, which is the same browser you can use on your grandma's "flip phone". it's shit and its slow, use the built in browser. Do your research before getting a g1, they're definitely not for everyone.

I had the same choice and went for the G1 and absolutley love it. Nearly all the apps are free. Google mail/contacts works like a dream. Download Meebo and you have IM. Its such a customizable device too. Its like having a laptop in your pocket. Top phone, get one.
