  • they don't look that bad people, and they can't be too sick because they are readily eating.. Sick fish don't tear into snails like savage beasts.

  • This fish looks sick to me, he probably in a fresh water tank. These fish need full marine salt as they get older.

  • Yeah teir fins are all chewed off and they are over fed. I Have 2 Green Spotted puffers and I have a huge tank just for 2 . I feed them once a day, and snails for their teeth

  • there beautiful

  • everyone just calm down, the gsp has the interesting ablity to "color morph". note the fact that the tanks substrate is jet black. they are simply blending in whit thier enviorment. green and black. cant do much better than a snail and forzen food diet in a well planted tank. that said at thier size/age you should be moving them to a higher salinity

  • @SDM121888 Black substrate has nothing at all to do with it. My tank has black sand and my puffs' bellies are bright white and are very bright.

  • this really pisses me off.........spaz is right...

  • That is not some healthy pufferfish you got, give it more seafood

  • looks unhealthy

  • pufferfish should have clean white belly and a little bulge but not that big.... I just bought my puffer 2 days ago and even I can tell thats an unhealthy pufferfish. but props for feeding him snails =D.... but still =/

  • I'd love to try spotted greens someday, but my little pea puffs are keeping me pretty busy as it is right now. :) They're MUCH cleaner eaters that this guy, hehe!

  • how much did this fish cost and where did u get him

  • Hey dude add some salt of they will die cause they are salt water fish of brackish but they live longer in salt

  • its black dotted not green

  • Pufferfish in 10 g tank?!?poor fish...idiota,fuck

  • he didnt even eat it, just chewed it up and spit out

  • @aerospaceace10 That is how the puffer fish eats. Look it up. =]

  • did you get yours from walmart

  • spaz not true they do very fine with eachother as long as they each have their own hiding place but yesthey look sick

  • 1st

  • @whereswaldotv

    thanks :)

  • what kind of plant is this i have two gsp and i think they'd enjoy it

  • @TheJokersAccomplice its corkskrew grass. its my backround plant! i love the stuff

  • by the way these need 30gallons (120L) per fish

  • @pluxorama That is only a suggestion. They can live in a tank smaller.

  • I see you have plants in your tank, GSP need a salinity level of 1.010 or higher, and nearly all available aquarium plants will not survive in those levels of salinity; hence you have a FW tank and these GSP's will die.

Furthermore this guys belly looks very full; these fish will eat themselves to death; they should have a slight bulge after feeding which has to be gone before you feed again

belly colouration is supposed to change, curling up on the bottom is bad tho.

    +1 for feeding snails!

  • @pluxorama please tell me more you seem nolagable aobut these fish

  • I agree that these GSP's don't look the best...i'm wondering if it has anything to do with such a dark substrate??? Are you keeping your puffs in brackish, fresh or full marine water? Maybe you could test the water and see if there are any problems with the Amm or Nitrite levels...Good Luck

  • These need more salt indeed.

The salinity should be raised till the bellies are bright white again.

    Got mine on full marine.

  • What was it eating

  • @ikbenonfire

    a snail.

  • The giant freshwater puffer, Tetraodon mbu is the largest freshwater puffer and can grow to 2.5 feet!

  • Not the ones in this vid, for the record.

  • you should add soome sea salt

to make them healthier otherwise they r gona end up dying

  • these poor puffers are sick, their stomachs should be white. Hope they are ok now.

  • @PpsychoJOhnny there stomachs turn black and cream like a lizards

  • Have a nice escargo!

  • your puffers are not very well, there stomachs are turning black and there tails are curled up,sort your water/filter out, these fish are brackfish community and need small mount of survive

  • Great job mr puffer fish!

  • these puffer fish look very unhealthy. their bellies should be a very bright white and they should have about 20-30 gallons of water per fish

  • @spaz3322 lol, I have two GSP in a 29G with a Bala Shark, the only time they are ever black is when I turn the lights on in the very early morning, they are always white.

  • I just got mine yesterday. I gave him snails. Just happened to see him this morning ripping the insides out of one of the bigger snails- blood and all!

  • these puffers are fresh and salt i had 2 for like 7 months in freshwater not sure if they salt though

  • ya give them lots of salt minimum 2 table spoons per gallon up to 24 grams per gallon

  • How big can these species grow?? Coz, i have a little tiny one that i just bought now.

  • 6-7 inches long

  • Wow. Didn't know they can grow that big. Tanks :D

  • Spotted Puffer

Spotted Puffer Scientific Name: Tetraodon nigroviridis

    Recommended Aquarium: 30+ Gallons

    Approx. Adult Size: 5 inches

    Temperament: Aggressive

    Ease of Care: Easy

    Diet: Carnivore

    Native Waters: Indonesia

  • mine is 8 inches long

I've had him for 2 years

  • his belly is al grey because of the to low salt level in you tank you shoud get soms special marine salt

  • are they freshwater?

  • I bought three little guys like this one tonight at WAL-MART! haha..never had fish before..how much room do these like guys need, and how much food should I give them? I have some "freeze dried" blood worms.....an advice would be great and APPRECIATED!!

  • This is a green spotted puffer. They eat anything from blood worms, snails, ghost shrimp, tetera fish (depending on the puffers size) You will need to feed them snails or more coarse things every once in a while, because they have a beak like a bird, opposite of the usual house fish. They are a brackish water fish which is a 50/50 solution of salt water and fresh water. They are really cute and entertaining fish, have fun.

  • Lots of shrimp and snails. If you can't afford to feed them live food all the time, then give them bloodworms, but also give them a cuttlebone to chew on between live feedings. When puffers are grown (about 6 inches), they need 30 gallons per fish. So, when your fish are grown, they'll need 90 gallons. Don't put any other fish with them. They'll be eaten right away.

  • the reason he looks so unhealthy is because there is too many in the same tank, spotted puffers are territorial, they bite off each others tails in defense which will eventually kill them. get melafix to help their injuries...

  • Also, the gray belly is probably a sign of stress. Give them some hiding places, and try putting a paper backgroud on the back and sides, which gives them a sense of enclosure and security. If that doesn't help, it could be black spot.

  • he's not a killer... thats what is reccomended for them to eat... but he does look unhealthy... i feed my little guys freze dried baby shrimp

  • They need snails the same size as their eyes.

  • The poor animal looks really really unhealthy...

It shows classical signs of a Puffer which is not happy... Dark colored etc...

You might treat him, with the right medicine.

  • come check out my fish tanks. and leave some tips for keeping care of these guys on my vid. i will be buying a GSP soon and want to know what i should put in the tank for it to be happy. comment on my vids. WOOT .

  • Make sure it's in a seperate tank.

  • wow . looks extremely unhealthy

  • Your little guy doesn't look too healthy...

Is he in brackish water? The grey belly means he's not happy. :(

  • where can i get snails that are tiny enough for my gsp?

  • Most lfs should give you the pond snails they have infesting their tanks for free. They don't get very big.

  • were is the tail?

  • their tails are small and usually not fanned out. They really do use it like a rutter and swim with their front fins. Kinda picture a humming bird.

  • thats not true , i have 2 puffer 8's in my aquarium fresh water with lots of other fish , they use there back tail loads , if they keep it to gather it's a sign of stress or molt

  • your right, but most fish I've seen have a tail that has a some sort of structure and is always the same shape. I don't know f8's but my gsp seem to use their side and 2 back fins (upper&lower) to swim, and there back tail to steer, which they use all the time, but is pointed when swimming giving the illusion of having no back fin. like they don't wiggle to swim:) I think thats what AweSomo84 meant.

  • yeah , they are awesome , but if they keep there tail to long together , the fish is not feeling happy , not enough food than they will eat each other and tails

  • i bought one of theses and put it on my 225G tank and it ate sooooo many snails prob 1000 in 5 days-2 weeks. well, it was a baby fahaka then i gave it back to the sotre

  • ahaha i have the same problem , i had so many snails now non

  • how big is ur tank

  • Aw the little puffer is so cute. But what is he eating? Ew.

  • Snails!

  • avenger7557... there are two types of puffer commonly sold under the name of green spotted... one lives in freshwater, the other brackish goin on marine. puffernet is a good site for lookin at the differences, tho i couldn't name them myself. maybe he's been sold the freshwater type? dunno, if not... they're probably both dead by now...

  • I have had the opportunity of actually seing my green spotted puffer puff up, have you seen yours?

  • Poor little dude looks a bit torn up!

  • what water parameters do these fish need ?

  • whats it eating :S

  • if u seperate those puffers they wont have nipped up tail fins like the both of yours have. i own some so i know

  • i've had 3 together and no nipping occurred for over 7 months

  • and im sure you fed them better... i wonder if this guy even has his tank setup to brackish conditions... from the looks of the plants that he has and they seem alive... those plants which i have ion my tropical tank do not live long if at all in brackish conditions

  • who the fk asked u

  • Their mouths look small but they obviously have some strong jaws and/or some sharp teeth in there. He chopped that shell up like going thru a blender or grinder. WOW.

  • they have four teeth that have fused together to form a beak... and they recomend shell fish because puffers grind down their teeth because they will grow consistently through out their lives

  • i dont recommend giving them garden snails >.>

the icky gooey might choke em

  • that is one of their main diets... so you know

  • lol they eat pond snails. not those ugly garden snails.

  • if you notice, the puffer is having a hard time getting the meat in its mouth because of all that gunk the snail produced

  • are they eating snails? where do you purchase cheap snails.. my pet store has them for sale as aquarium decor for about $5 a piece

  • The puffers require snails. Most the time if you just ask the pet store for some of the annoying snails on their plants they will give them to you for free. They breed like crazy!

  • at 1:18- 1:22 it looks like his tongue is shooting out realfast ...lol

  • I get mine from WalMart and I thought I was saving them, until I found out they restock because I buy them! I have 10 of them in a 125 Brackish and every time I go in there and se them I grab a few...(I am the supply and demand) they are looking for.....I want to ge them all to save them, but some fool will get them because they want it for their community tank and when he kills every one he will flush him....."Catch 22" sorry!

  • Black stomach means they are fine. I had 5 of these and they are great pets. But in all due respects, look out for that one little guy's fin. I'm not sure if it's due to tail rot (most likely) or due to territorial conflicts with the other puffer. They look too young to be starting that though.

  • woooo what are da names of dem puffa fish der class

  • definately some fin rot, walmart has them as the fish of the month, there usually in pretty bad conditions, seen them feeding rosy reds, i'd rather see them put out of their misery

  • I agree! I keep getting them from wal mart only to have them die with in a week. They just don't take care of their fish there!

  • i've had mine since june, i moved them to there own tank now because i bought a skunk cleaner shrimp for my saltwater, didn't want to see the $30 shrimp be puffer food, plus one of them took a bite out of my clownfish, if anyone wants 3 greeen spotted puffers message me

  • ill have the 3 puffers

  • They're pretty

  • awesome, GSP are so fun to watch

  • i have a figgure 8

  • I had one...It died!!!!So I got a new one now!!!

  • Vote about your puffer fish on this site tetraodon,php5,cz/anketyaj,htm

  • black stomach...that's not healthy....keep an eye on them..

  • beauty!

  • puffers are evil

  • nah man they r ded cute lol

  • i have three of them

  • if you have observed, one of them has fin rot-a disease caused by poor filtering system. and accumulation of nitrogen compounds. bear in mind that puffers are sensitive on nitro. i have puffers at home

  • Not all puffers have spikes

  • oh yea when do the pufferfish usually make it self into a balloon with spikes sticking out?

  • do you have them in brackish water?

  • Pufferfish are real cute.

  • I KNOW!!!!I have one!!!!
