There is no doubt Metcalf had a superior overall legacy at the NCAA level winning multiple championships, etc. That said, at that same level Caldwell was better than Metcalf one versus one. Metcalf was beaten twice on the books by Caldwell. To cite the All Star match as evidence is like saying someone is a better track star because they won a practice warm up race.

@80shockey1 its called great reffing. so wrestlers know where they are in the position. for example experienced wrestlers get called for lock hands and lose a point because refs do a bad job of indicating what position they see.

I'm neither a fan of one or the other, but as an athlete of the sport, i'de be embarrassed to be Caldwell after calling all that injury time due to fatigue and then having enough energy to parade around the mat with time left and do a back flip. Metcalf didnt wrestle great either but still. Wouldnt of wanted to be the NC State coach at that point.
