As a musician I can honestly say there is nothing better than the feeling of hearing people sing along to a song you've written. It's something I truly wish everyone could experience.
i know this song is easy to play, and as amazing as im sure ben gibbard feels knowing everyone knows his music, i'm sure hearing a crowd full of people singing his song with him would definitely stifle vocal creativity.
fucking shitty crowd. clapping off key and trying to sing along. if i was singin on stage and that shit happened i would pour gas all over them and burn them to hell. disrespectful jackassess need to fucking die
u r so right man. how dare they support the band by going to their shows and singing along to their songs to show how much they love them. those selfish bastards!
@hardcoresoonersfan6 its not that they are singing, thats awesome, its the fact that they are drowning out ben gibbards voice... i mean who pays a bunch of money to go to a concert to hear random strangers sing popular songs?

ROFL if you were singing on STAGE? oh god.. NO ONE WILL EVEN FCUKING COME TO YOUR FCUKING SADIST GIG AND SING.. AND YOU WONT EVEN HAVE THAT FCUKING CHANCE TO PERFORM.. YOU SHIT HEAD DICK MOTHER FCUKER!
dude you're a dumbass. The band obviously feels amazing when they realize everyone in not only this crowd but every crowd knows all the words to a song he wrote.
@hurley1 As a musician myself A can't even tell you how good it makes you feel when a crowd sings along with you let alone sings something you wrote yourself..it's a high you can't get with any drug...THE highest compliment you can give..for the ones reading this who play music for people you understand..for the ones who don't will never understand
@Pattonfrodo completely agree. but on the other side of the coin as a musician i prefer if i'm just listening to the musician and not the crowd . to me it kind of ruins it
@omgpaulthompson from a performers point of view it can be cool, but sometimes it's annoying if they mess it up. i'm talking about as a musician from the audience's point of view i'd rather just hear the performance of the professional musician
@Luckyhearts Sad opinion. If you don't let music live and let the atmosphere follow it's natural path on a live concert you could aswell just listen to a cd. When you're in concert, believe me, you don't give a shit if you can hardly even hear the performer on stage. But the feeling alone that thousands of voices sing the same text with you is amazing. I would definately be sad about a silent audience that doesn't seem to be involved in the show at all.
@tsavolde how is not letting music live? the reason why people wouldn't be singing or making noise is because they don't want to miss one thing the artist does and take in the music without any distractions. And don't be fooled into thinking just because it's loud that everyone's listening. It's when everyone's quiet that you know for sure that everyone is listening. just because you don't agree doesn't mean my opinion is sad. what is sad is how closed-minded you're being
@Luckyhearts Dude have you ever been to a concert? I play the piano, and I also did give concerts already. Of course everybody is silent there, because there is nothing the audience could really do to involve in the concert, and every single note counts. That certainly is not the case on a Death Cab Concert. The songs says I will follow you into the dark and not "I will follow you into the dark as long as you shut up".
Knowing the lyrics is the biggest credit the audience could give to the band!
@tsavolde im a professional musician, yes i've been to concerts. The audience doesn't have to be making noise to be involved. You're involved when you're listening to everything the performer is playing. Every single note counts in every song, that's why its great to go to live concerts cuz usually the artist will mess around and do different stuff. If you sing along you won't notice it. You already sing along to it when you're listening to the cd, when you're at the concert be in the moment
