Then we grew up... some of us got good jobs,decent money those stepped up and moved 2 better toys: gtr35,r8 v10,rs4,6,m6 etc..Others didnt get That much luck in life so they are trying to have fun too with their old civs for some comparable small money...I can understand both parties,and if car is tuned well any of them got my respect Isn't it all about fun?

I would say a BMW is boring, I used to have 2 (530i and then 330i), after that I bought a S2000, it provided more fun than BM. Now I own a civic type R with modds (Race header, CAI, hondata reflash, 72mm throttle body stock is 60, 9lbs flywheel instead of 21 and LSD) it reached 260hp at flywheel without turbo, and weight 1190kg, I save a lot of bucks compared to the BM (reliability, keep up, gas, insurrance) and it is gives real pleasure, ripps a lot of fat germans, especially at cornering.
BMWs are only slow if the Civic is juiced out of it's mind.... So really what your saying is probably one of the most block-head statements you could make... If BMWs are slow, than Civics are bicycles.. Their Turbos and name-brand mods are fast..... thats it.

more like 1700 lbs lighter. a 2009 bmw m6 weighs 3900 lbs while a eg6 civic weighs 2200 lbs. 1700 lbs. makes a huge difference in a car, especially in one that makes 370 hp. the bmw has a 12hp/100lbs ratio, while the civic has a 16hp/100lbs ratio. So I think you should do the math before making stupid assumptions, cause I just did the math.

First of all, if the M6 is stock it's 512HP and paddle shifters...so it's got a clutch, but no clutch pedal, and if you don't get the RPM's way up, you'll bog out the motor, and if the RPM's are too high, you get a lotta wheel spin. I've driven and tweaked them... Sam with the Civic's. It's not bullshit, it's possible. I've got LOTS of experience with the WRX's, like AWD! Can you say "ADVANTAGE"? Launch like hell, yet suffer the rest of the way. You need upgrades and RA Gears or 6spd swap
Yeah I love my WRX I have a GT30R set up with billet gears 1st and 2nd are straight cut and 3rd and 4th are hellical and 5th is still the syncromesh. I had the 6spd swap from the STi but I got rid of it because I was shifting all the time and it slowed me down. I ran with my 5spd the other day and I ran a 11.5 @ 124 and it is about to go back down again because I am going to do a carbon fiber conversion all 4 doors the front fenders, trunk lid and hood will all be carbon fiber! Gonna be SWEET!!!

That's totally retarded. Torque is nearly EVERYTHING. Rotational force is in charge of everything. Torque pulls you around a corner faster & it determines acceleration. The only thing horsepower does is determine top speed.

A turbo in an M6? That'd be interesting to see. I doubt you'd see significant gains until you reached the high RPMs of 3rd or 4th gear. Like you said, the weight of the BMW is what makes it poor in acceleration. Maybe do some weight reductions, titanium alloys, carbon fiber, pull out the seats and electronics and all that junk you don't need to go fast, then I bet you the BMW would own a Honda in every respect.
Well, considering the intent and theory behind each manufacturer for these vehicles, plus the availability of aftermarket parts, you can reason that there's far more options to make a Honda go fast, compared to the BMW. Who cares if you have a $100,000 car its the respect that u just got beat by a budget built honda. If you drive a honda in the first place i dont think its for looks is it? more like 1700 lbs lighter. a 2009 bmw m6 weighs 3900 lbs while a eg6 civic weighs 2200 lbs. 1700 lbs. makes a huge difference in a car, especially in one that makes 370 hp. the bmw has a 12hp/100lbs ratio, while the civic has a 16hp/100lbs ratio. So I think you should do the math before making stupid assumptions, cause I just did the math.

You said it all mate, its a question of weight and hp, some dudes dont understand that you could use any lil'car for example Yaris, MG, Mini or some like that, and push them with a 300 hp engine at least, if this lil'car is optimized to be lighter, while the evidence is that you will be in front of many GT cars, but not Supercars of course.
So to conclude : light car and good engine (check out the Caterham V8...and you will understand this theory...)

My all motor k20 is producing 330hp at 300 lb-ft of torque! Believe or not! and Ive taken on an M6 aswell and beat him!!! HacK500 is right any civic with a little over 300hp to 350hp can take on an m3, m5, and m6!!!

I beat a chevelle with a blown 454 in my 03 WRX in the 60ft because I got a better launch. First of all, if the M6 is stock it's 512HP and paddle shifters...so it's got a clutch, but no clutch pedal, and if you don't get the RPM's way up, you'll bog out the motor, and if the RPM's are too high, you get a lotta wheel spin. I've driven and tweaked them... Sam with the Civic's. It's not bullshit, it's possible. I've got LOTS of experience with the WRX's, like AWD! Can you say "ADVANTAGE"? Launch like hell, yet suffer the rest of the way. You need upgrades and RA Gears or 6spd swap

Yeah I love my WRX I have a GT30R set up with billet gears 1st and 2nd are straight cut and 3rd and 4th are hellical and 5th is still the syncromesh. I had the 6spd swap from the STi but I got rid of it because I was shifting all the time and it slowed me down. I ran with my 5spd the other day and I ran a 11.5 @ 124 and it is about to go back down again because I am going to do a carbon fiber conversion all 4 doors the front fenders, trunk lid and hood will all be carbon fiber! Gonna be SWEET!!!

no shit I knkow power to weight ratio and shit but a BMW M6 has a V8 which also produces an ass load of TQ which everyone knows honda has never heard of TQ. And I know the M6 weighs like what 3200 lbs give or take vs the honda at 2900lbs if it has stock interior. but to make up for 200hp and 200 tq? nah I am not buying that. In a drag race w/ relative close weights which these have it comes down to the displacement and the amount of TQ produced. I am not buying the hp that is listed.

If you know about power:weight ratio, at least get the engine right: BMW E63 M6 has a 5.0L V10. XD
It doesn't have 570hp like title says because stock 5.0L S85B50 V10 has 507hp.
At the moment, we don't know exactly the level of torque the Civic has. We know stock it has shit all torque, but we need more details to confirm it; for starters, we don't even know what turbo the Civic is running.

its true that honda doesnt have a high number of torque but who needs them on a light car.whats amazing about hondas is that there torque peaks at such a high RPM,so when ever your shifting your on the highest torque curve,where as my cousins GTi turbo VW starts at 2g rpm and slows down after that. thats the reason why he beats me of the line against my RSX S,but if we were rolling,id kil him.gotta remember that japanese cars dont need torque, all it will give is wheels spin.ESPECIALLY on a FWD

yeah I understand about power to weight ratio BUT TQ can help you win a race. If you have more TQ but the same HP as the other car with the same amount of weight the higher TQ car will win. You know why? More power physically pulling the car along. And I drive a WRX and subaru's boxer engine make GREAT TQ. So not all Jap engines are low TQ motors.

That's totally retarded. Torque is nearly EVERYTHING. Rotational force is in charge of everything. Torque pulls you around a corner faster & it determines acceleration. The only thing horsepower does is determine top speed.

That M6 has 2.5 as many cylinders as that little ricer. Probably about the same interior space, but its a little more comfy. It only beat it because that civic weighs as much as that M6's V10.

It is an unfair match up due to weight, but the bmw could of stripped his car and lightened it as much as he could, but didn't. Also since he has 2.5 more cylinder then he should of tuned the engine a bit better... just look at the supra(top secret) with the merc engine in... pushing something like 100hp+ per cylinder and it's a v12 IIRC... (not 100% tho)

Well put. you can strip a BMW down and its power to weight ratio wouldnt change a lot. Maybe grow a little but not a ton. It also costs about twice as much to tune a 10 cylinder than a 4. The top secret supra is professionally tuned, neither of the cars in this video are tuned that well.

2. Make them do a rolling start, say 50-300 km/h if the honda can go that fast..

A turbo in an M6? That'd be interesting to see. I doubt you'd see significant gains until you reached the high RPMs of 3rd or 4th gear. Like you said, the weight of the BMW is what makes it poor in acceleration. Maybe do some weight reductions, titanium alloys, carbon fiber, pull out the seats and electronics and all that junk you don't need to go fast, then I bet you the BMW would own a Honda in every respect.

Well, considering the intent and theory behind each manufacturer for these vehicles, plus the availability of aftermarket parts, you can reason that there's far more options to make a Honda go fast, compared to the BMW. However, I bet you that BMW has a much nicer ride, quieter, more luxurious and definitely more of a "status" respect in the BMW. But, meh, to each his own.

i would have to say that the civic did win that race but the v10 thats under the bonnet of the bmw wieghs about as much as the civic, therfore it will take off faster than the m6 but in the top speed run, the civic doesnt stand a chance, 7-gears and 190+mph, the bmw owns, m-power:)
