YES! Run the RPMs up while changing the gears since you will likely be shifting hard and fast and they probably won't hit your rev limiter before you engage the next gear...just don't miss any gear changes ;)
BTW to the driver on the vid, you're doing pretty good. To get quicker you have to practice keeping your heel on the floor and working the clutch with only your foot not just the whole leg. Also, it sounds like your letting off the gas a bit... don't.

@68965 Depends, completely stock 5.0's produced from 87-92 have 225HP stock but the 93's have 205HP, and the 87-92's can only get 14's stock, i've seen it with professional drivers. BUT, a not so much costly upgrade... the GT40 headers kit ($500) will drop 1 second - 2 seconds off your 1/4 mile time.
what the hell is a gt40 headers kit? Do you mean gt40 heads. Those will not drop your et that much anyways. GT40s with work in them and other mods you can get into the 12s

It depends on the driver and the options on the car. I had a no-option 87 LX 5-speed Coupe that ran 13.7@98 dead stock and ran 13.1@103 with just an (H-pipe/Flowmasters/pulleys/K&N/14 degrees of timing/3.73s/and slicks).
I also had a full option 88 GT convertible that ran 14.0s@99 dead stock (Except Removed silencer and 14 degrees), but I never modded it.
My current car, a 93 Reef Blue LX Coupe ran 15.1@94 stock and it took a full exhaust, CAI, pulleys, and 3.55s to get it to run 14.0@98.

How many passes proved he was slower? Track conditions and temperature make a big difference as well. When I when to 4:30's my car was slower because I lost my great traction untill I got better tires now 4:30's are faster

3.55? should of went 3.73, but slower? get better tires, he should of gottten atleast 1/2 sec faster and should of picked up atleast 1-2mph. compare his mph then and now at the traps. also compare 60ft times find out why?

Let me help you, 94 to 95 got 5.0L engine, 96 to 98 (as Mr. 98GtConvt said) got the updated 4.6L engine running the same 215HP for the 96-97, and the 98 got 225HP ;)
you should be making more power... what type of heads do you have???? 2 or 4 vaulve??? If you have a DSS block it's should be much more capable than 316rwh. Nice run though man. Any street car that runs 12's deserves respect. but I think I'll stick with push-rod power (5.0)personally.

Naturally aspirated, the 4.6 was never that impressive. Sure, in DOHC form, it was a good running engine, but I'll take my old school 5.0 for NA power. Even turbocharged.
Its when you dont take your foot off the gas while shifting. If your not good at it or have never done it you can easily over rev your car which is never good.
you basically keep your foot in the gas, stab the clutch in, and out, as fast as possible, and while this is happening, SLAM the car into the next gear.
btw, its very bad on your tranny, but will take good time off your 1/4
If I tried to run the 1/4 mile with out shifting out of 3rd gear at 110 mph the my RPM's would be almost 8,000rpms. My rear axle gear ratio=4.30:1, My 3rd Gear=1.28:1, Tire diameter=26 inch, Engine Redline set at 6,500.
haha u dont stop right at the end of a 1/4 mile drag race you make sure you pass the beams otherwise a mistake of letting off to early wil in some cases cause a loss.. dont hate
I had a problem with my 3rd gear synchronizer. It would not go into gear at high rpms so I have to lift, short shift and shift slowly. :( I am using a Pro 5.0 shifter with a TKO-600.
When U say Heads,CAMS and Intake. Do you mean the PI conversion, everything stock? or did you go with ported PI heads and bigger cams? I have a 98 as well and I'm going with PI conversion and more on January.

Too bad your right arm all but blocks out what would be the most interesting part of this vid--the gas pedal action [or lack thereof].

Thats what you get with stock axles and a 2hr drive home. With Moser Axles you get some more foot feed Search for 'Can your car Wheelie on the street' You can see me pull the drivers tire off the ground!
