I'm 51, 185 lbs. I had my first THR in April. I was using only a cane in 4 days, off all pain meds in 7 days, driving in 9 days, played golf @ 3 weeks, Surfing in a month.
Hey, Everyone is going to be different in their recovery & their dealing with pain. If your in shape & active you'll be back up in no time. If your out of shape and lazy or a senior citizen it may take you a lot longer.
Bottom line is this is the only way to get your quality of life back.
My friend is getting a total hip replacement and she is 37 now. How long is the recovery process and will she be as good as new? She normally exercises a lot and is active so I want to see her get back to that lifestyle and with no more pain. Right now she can hardly walk at all. What should she expect?
I am a THR patient. I had the surgery when I was 19, which is almost 10 years. If anybody needs to ask any wuestions I am more than happy to answer them :)
hi lulmul, one of my relative had a surgery 10 years back. He cant walk normally and complains of pain when trying to walk normally. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you
if anybody has any long term questions i might be able to help. twenty year survivor. write me anytime. i have nothing else to do and nobody to talk to. i would appreciate all the letters i get and i will try and answer youre questions the best i can. but remember i am not a doctor i am only a long-term survivor who was struck down at a early age i am now almost forty years old and ive had numerous surgeries and pain pills. try and stay off the pain med as much as possible causes alot of weight
@5492514 what problem do you have my friend;;i m twenty and i suffer from my ten years from hip arthritis[actually hymenitis as doctors called it]..i had a hip surgery and they said me tha it is possible to have a hip replacement at the future..i exercise myself..i am athlete..would it stop my activities;;;thank you
i have had it for twenty years and both hips replaced. what do you want to know?? i have alot of pain all day. no bed sleeping anymore, forget sex life, limited movement, like riding horses or even crossing a fence, major depression, mood swings, legs swelling and then all the weight gain from lack of excersize. sit in car while everybody else goes in store. no lifting youre baby. kids wishing they had a normal daddy. muscle soreness all the damn time and that about covers twenty years of hell.
I like that x-ray. I like the orientation - of the cup. Small diameter head (risks known); and i wonder of the lesser trochanter; and symettry. Perhaps even a mispell. I think it lasted 20 years; Perhaps an osteoporotic or necrotic effect upon the greater trochanter ........ Nonetheless - the surgical technique is poetic.
i'm 35 years old and have a hip problem i might need a Surgery and how much is this cost
