  • Great Job! Wanted to repeat a request you got on the other stair video to please make a video showing this going up and down from the attiic view so we can see how the ladder deploys & stows up there...Thanks. RAS

  • No probs, the remote control is from 'the garage door guru' powered by any old 12v plug in power supply. This is used to power two 12v relays, one controlled by the up button and the other by the down.

The winch is a 250kg 240v from e bay of which I took the back off the controller and attached 4 wires to the two normally open contacts from the 'up' side of the switch and another 4 wires to the normally open contacts to the 'down' side of the switch.

  • • I then connected the other end of these wires to two normally open contacts on the up relay and two normally open contacts on the down relay.

Because of the mechanics of the ladder I thought it best to add two limit switches to stop it in exactly the right place. These limit switches interrupt the 12 volts powering the relay coils so that the winch can't run too far.

  • As a by the way, there was a spare contact on the limit switches so I put the light switch on the down stop switch so that the lights come on automatically when the ladder touches the floor.

  • 20 by 28 inches.

    About 50 by 71 cm.

Standard loft size that came with the house, I knocked up the ladder to fit out of some decking and smooth planks.

  • @yorkshirejamie really nice work. would you mind sharing info on the electronics you bought to create this amazing ladder?

  • how much clearence do you need for this ?
