  • It's a terrific song. I wonder if it wouldn't be better regarded if he hadn't sold it almost after it came out to Polaroid or Kodak, whoever it was, for use in their ads.

  • @EdwardWLynn It was Kodak.

  • Love this song it took me a little time to find it I could remember the title or artist.

Wow what a great song makes you think of all the yesteryears.

  • In the end, verily, only the memories remain. And may most be pleasant ones.

  • I'm 14, not even in high school, and this song always brings me to tears. The lyrics are just so beautiful and meaningful. It makes me scared to grow up and look back on my childhood, regretting the risks I didn't make, the chances I didn't take, the dreams I didn't chase. I hope young people can learn from this song and cherish their youth and, although cliche, live life to the fullest.

  • This song reminds me of St Petersburg Florida in the 80s when AM 860 WGUL used to play big band music and Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, Andy Williams, Herb Alpert, etc

  • I remember this song from a Kodak commercial back in the 70's when I'm still a kid. Can't describe the feeling every time I hear this song and it always gives me a goosebumps.

  • I lost my wife to diabetes and it's consequences nearly 3 1/2 years ago. I remember this song from an old HBO special...something sponsored by Kodak....long before digital cams arrived. We used film in our 35mm camera's back then. It was a remarkable song then, and a devistating song now.

  • I lost my father nearly 18 months ago, and I just turned 44 today, so this song has more meaning now for me than ever.

  • Paul,

Quite a singer - he does a great job on this song. He still looks Great!

  • I was 13 when this song hit the airwaves. Listening to it now? I get it...

  • dang i'm almost 19 and i miss the good old days of before 10...

  • Wonderful, sentimental song...

4th verse: it's, "Here comes the setting sun"

  • I love this song, however, it also brings back alot of memories and I think of all the prople I loved and lost my mom, my grandmother, so many family members and friends :'(

  • this song makes me cry!!!!

  • A good one, kind of timeless.....this arrangement is way too corny thought, with the Lawrence Welk women in the background.

  • i miss my mom and dad who passed away.... i just miss those days when i was 5 to 10 years old... :(

  • this was on my parents wedding cd... so so sentimental and poignant (: Thanks for sharing, youtube.

Yeah it is kinda sappy in a typical 1970s way, but it has meaning.

  • thanks marie, glad someone listens and understands what real music is all about..

  • I first heard this song when it was used in a camera commercial many years ago. And since then every time I hear this song I associate it with taking photographs . But also listening to it now does make me note that Paul Anka was not really a great singer and was at best kinda mediocre. So no great loss.

  • @waynegreer72 I remember that commercial too! It was a Kodak commercial america's story teller that was in the mid 70"s.

  • Paul Anka says the greatest time of his life was learning how to play the skin flute and blow the meat whistle in Liberace's hot tub.

  • i love this song so much..actually this is my favorite song..it reminds me of remembering my life since the day i knw the world..

  • @beautiv NO SABES LO QUE ES MUSICA QUERID@...QUE ESCUCHAS VOS?QUE SOS TAN VIV@ PAUL ANKA ES LO ++.......PAUL ANKA 4EVER...NO SEAS TONT@ Y ESCUCHALOO....................DESDE ARGENTINA SOS UN ANTII MUFFA Y ORTIVA

  • Just a beautifull rendition of " life" in the form of a beautifull song.

  • i love paul anka this song is beautifulllll forever paul anka.......

  • Billboard's #54 song of '76. From a Kodak film commercial. Wonder how Paul was chosen to sing it? Anybody know? Paul hit #1 AC, #7 pop in the US. Did it chart in Canada? God bless!

  • beautiv, thanks for the reply, wasn't expecting one but glad someone out there understands.

  • this song sums it all up, life is precious, cherish it while you still can, yes it is a shame that today;s mucus..i mean music is generic. there's no real artistry, no real true meaning, no heart, no soul, it's either about xxx or senseless over-kill of vocal gymnastics and useless drama about a break up, no real true messege of love. some bimbo chanting the mantra of "man bad...woman good"

  • @regnifdab1970 : Good point!

  • This was the theme of my Senior Follies, Lansdowne Senior High 1978. I remember the entire cast perched at the front of the stage joining in to sing this song, and tears were flowing from the cast and the audience. We were saying goodbye.

  • This was featured in a Kodak comercial around 1975, 1976.

  • i really like this song snce i was a child....how i wish this song would be wedding theme.....

  • This kind of music really isn't my taste at all im a 13 year old girl but i love this song. it means so much to my family. At every event, reunion, funeral, wake, or family party this song was played in some way or other. It really makes me cherish and remember all the precious moments I've got to spend with the most amazing family on earth I always get a tear in my eye weather I show it or not.

  • A good classic song

  • Love this song. Like many other posters here, I'm in my 40's (47 to be exact). Fills me with sadness. So many loved ones are gone from my life. My Dad, an old boyfriend (who wasn't really so old and I was still frineds with him), aunts, uncles, cousins. I do miss the "old days". Have always loved this great song. I cherish my family, but sometimes, just wish I could go back for one more weekend at the home where I grew up and have so many happy memories.

  • @lexusck melancally memories

  • @lexusck : Amen.

  • @lexusck Hi I'm Suki, me too, I missed my grandma and aunts so much. How I wsh there is a time machine so that I can go back to my oldest days.

  • @lexusck I am 50 now and often think of so many I have loved that are no longer with me know. Three sisters and my brother, Dad, Grandparents, and Aunts and Uncles. Times wish I could go back for a little while when they were all a part of my life. I find it hard to accept that life will never be same again sometimes, I so relate to what you are saying. God Bless.

  • I think the lyrics for this part is ... "Here comes the setting sun" ... as it may well rhyme with "are passing one by one" ... I think so .... someone can correct me if I am wrong .... but anyways ... i absolutely love this song ... even though I'm only 25 i feel as though i can relate ... His voice has feeling and soul and nostalgia in it ... I feel what he sings ... Great song!!!

  • Great song and vocal.

  • "The seasons are passing one by one...

    Gather moments while you may

Collect the dreams you dream today.."

Every lyric of this song is so significant...telling us that life is what is happening within us and not what is happening around us. Thanks for posting.
