They are idiots, if you use the old door as the template for the new door then any imperfections in the old door will be transferred onto the new door. I would just set the door into the frame and mark it and plane it to get a even 2mm gap all the way around.

This is NOT how to hang a door. You will end up with terrible results.

Just look at the huge gaps arond the latch mortice, and copying the existing door ! what if that was shite to begin with ?

There is a much easier way of hanging interior doors now. You no longer need to shim or do all the hard work of plumbing(leveling). There is a new product that is available online at the home depots website. Its called the quick door hanger. A beginner can literally hang a door in under 15 minutes with just a level and a power drill using these 5 dollar bracket kits.youtube "how to hang a door express products". I recommend it to everyone.
