  • medley is to fast. they should slow down the music.

  • look at the girls swinging, Wonderfull.

Thanks for sharing these clips of supremes in Japan 1975.

  • i would be intresting to see cindy birdsong write a book about her time as a supreme, i mean she worked with all of them and i imagine it would be impartial.

i bet she has a few secrets to tell!

  • WOW very nice. Ive never heard Mary do lead on Ladder and she was great, tho Cindy and Scherrie too loud and too fast at end.

  • I looked up "horrendous" and figured out "total mess" by myself. Most musicians know that Mary Wilson has a superb alto voice. On pitch, strong, weighty, blending. I told her this to her face and she simply said, "Why, thank you!". She also asked me how the sound system was working - was the blend OK? - and I was just a fan in the back row who had a chance to meet her. I like to stand up for Mary because she is a veteran professional...

  • I've met Mary a couple of times, on her book tours, and she couldn't have been nicer both times. And she about had writer's cramp after I had her sign all my Supremes albums, and her album, plus a drawing of her on the cover of it that I'd done. She's a class act!

  • Schrreie Pane is the real singer here !!!

  • Mary's vocal are horrendous. This is a total mess

  • would you die already

  • dont you think you should be fair and objective.

  • I dunno if it's because of me being a Supremes fan and I'm being objective, or...but when I watch their '70s clips, they just seem...timeless. The Supremes in their gowns and hair in the '70s just never seem dated, they really were in a class and time by themselves.

  • @italoman9 _Well Said, brother!

I really Like that! Thank You!

    C.J.

  • Listen to that note Cindy hit at 3:45.

  • No matter how one made about the Supremes you have to give it to Mary, she held on until the end and all ladies did a great job in providing good entertainment. Something that is lacking in today world.

  • I really liked the 70's hits. Too bad they weren't bigger. I sometimes wonder if Mary and Cindy would've been more successful had they given the group a different name when Diana left. Like how the Bluebells became Labelle. Perhaps the public would've better accepted the new lead vocalist(s)and songs if that detachment was made.

  • There's also the Smokey Robinson special where they sang "Someday We'll Be Together"...

  • Yes, this was a TV special in Japan. It was set to air on US TV, but Motown vetoed it before it could be aired due to the mistake Mary makes during the new hits medley. Cindy and Scherrie are singing Floy Joy, and Mary inexplicably launches into Up the Ladder. In my opinion that error could have been edited out. But Motown buried it instead.

There is concert footage of Jean, Cindy and Mary in the vault. From a special broadcast here in the states with the Spinners and other groups.

  • I didn't noticed Mary's singing "Up the Ladder", although she did seem to miss the first few words, but that's hardly noticeable.

  • it' mary and cindy singing floy joy mary keeps her parts in the songs scherrie sings automatclly sunshine

  • Yep! There is ALOT of Concert footage on the Supremes! Apparently Motown followed them around ALOT and recorded alot of what they did! And then Mary started herself when things slowed down from Motown. And if there is a mistake, it isn't in 'this' medley! It's the same as they have ALWAYS done it!

  • This is the only lineup that could match the original trio for fluid grace in performance. All three of these women displayed a natural grace and they blended as well physically as they did vocally.

  • I know there's a CD of the JML Supremes in Japan out there, but is there a recording of this version of the Supremes in Japan?

  • Nope, but Motown would own the rights to the tv soundtrack so they could get their ass into gear and get it from the tv station that recorded it and then release it - now wouldn't that be great? More importantly, it would be amazing to have this show on DVD!!!

  • ACTUALLY, it WAS set to be done here......"in word only"! They hadn't really intended to do it! And something mysteriously happened to the video copy and audio. Apparently it was supposedly destroyed, unbeknownst to anyone why. it was said to be a 'fire' at one point. But it's in keeping with all the other 'mysteries' about why these groups didn't get to be treated SUPREME in those years, except in foreign countries!

  • Well I can understand that. After all, the Beeb erased hours of performances from Top of the Pops in the 70's. We lost (original lineup's) Stoned Love, River Deep, Nathan Jones, Bad Weather and He's My Man. Tragedy.

  • Thank you for posting this.. They sound great on these songs..Always good to see and hear Miss Cindy, Scherrie is a natural. Mary actually sounded good doing the lead on "Up the Ladder" in a more deeper tone, she should include it in her "Supremes" shows.

  • Scherrie truly deserves more credit for her contribution to carrying on the Supremes legacy. Then and now. Nice to see this. Thanks.

  • Are the any live video performances of Jean, Mary, and Cindy in concert?

  • Of course. I don't have any other that what you see on YouTube. There is still stuff in TV companies vaults that we may never get to see!

  • This is great, all I can say is "More, More, More, Please!"

    PRETTY PLEASE!!!!

Cindy is so cute and awesome here.

  • Here's where I miss Jean. Nice to hear Cindy coming through, and Scherrie is always a delight.

  • is this part of the Supremes in Japan 1975?

  • Yep.
