  • anyone can play a transcription, and alot can figure out phrases, solos, the trick is to make it your own, and to be able to understand why it works, where it comes from what scale, etc..and to play freely, not stuck on someone elses notes..thats the problem not gettings some sustain, and copying note for note, thats part of it, but like the good man says, hes a dentist. only 1 allen holdsworth. but we can keep trying.

  • @techdeath16 yes i would like to know also what guitar it is?? maybe one day mark will say?

  • incredible. just because you didn't play the solo note for note doesn't matter. your choice of notes was just as good as Allan's

  • Thats some seriously top of the line playing.

    Bravo! :D

  • Superb! And the most challenging of guitarists to boot. Holdsworth is a great idol to live up to. You do him justice here. Chris

  • Great!! why this vid only had 3 stars im not shure but i give it 5! great stuff!

  • Nice tone...sounds almost like a synth.

  • thats cause he has a synth.

  • How do you learn holdsworth by ear? You nutter! I struggle doing Mark King solos by ear, but Holdsworth is in another league! Keep up the good work, if you fancy a jam let me know!

  • cheers - must get round to jamming with others again. Nowhere near Holdsworth level though. Easy to get a rough idea of the notes using amazing slow downer software

  • what software are you using? sounds amazing... How long did it take for you to learn that? Sory 4 all the questions.. It just blows me away that people can figure stuff out by ear. I need to work on my ear 4 sho

  • what is your amazing slow downer software? i downloaded one once and got viruses lol which one is good?

  • PS - Just find that most of the tab out there is useless. Even if the notes are correct, the fingerings are so wrong esp when it's for stuff like REH Holdsworth video or JM's the way I do it where you can see clearly it's all wrong. Haven't come across very much accurate Holdsworth transcriptions. You?

  • That was totally lame by anyone's standards. Just a hobby mate. Just by ear - amazing slow downer - dead easy. Know the principles behind it all but haven't put the hours in to master it all. Don't know if I could. Don't think I have the creativitity either - well definately don't.

  • That really sounded like shiite. . . Except for the parts where you were ripping. . .

  • Totally agree - just had a go at the technical bits.

  • I was just hackin' on ya'. I've seen a couple of your Holdsworthian efforts and am always impressed, so it just surprised me that you were noodling so much. Do you learn by ear, tablature, reading music? Inquiring minds and whatnot. . .

  • that run that starts aprox. at 1:21 is UNBELIEAVABLE. Those are my favourite ten seconds of Metal Fatigue. I said it before, you´ve got skills man! i´m going to give that solo a try, because i definetely love it.

And your guitar is soooo hot, i´m jealous XD it looks like kiko loureiro´s one.

    Best wishes!!! Facundo (Arg)

  • Dude... you are really talented. Do you study music? or live of music?? You need a lot of hours and yeears to play like that. Congratulation!

  • Nice Mark! the phrases are the same! Some days ago I posted this youtube in the guitar player forum. Take a look to the comments and come here to share your opinion with us.

    See you

  • Why don't you play out? You rock! You seem to nail everything I've seen you attempt.

  • you should write and get a band together.

  • love that scale on 0:57 :makes my skin crawl...thanks for Mr.Holdsworth for inventing it...Congrats to you man!! You Nailed it!!

  • omfg, man. you rock.

  • Thanks

  • Very, very, very nice. Where do you play?

  • Nowhere!

  • In his bedroom! Just "the things you see" on this vid!

  • didnt like very much the improvs, but you´ve nailed perfctly the lick on 0:57, my favorite phrase ever played on a guitar - ever!

    Congrats!!

  • Ha - recorded that just after I learned the 3 fast runs - forgot the 2nd one and the rest is lame!! very!
