This is why Cheetahs are no competition to lions. 1.Cheetahs as a full adult usually weigh 100-115 lbs while adult lionesses usually weigh at least 250! 2. The lions powerful jaws and sharper and longer claws can easily break a cheetahs backbone while the cheetah has smaller head and jaws and more blunt dog like claws. The cheetah over all is a clumsy fighter its ONLY defense is to run!

I think the cheetah has been finished, while the lioness attcked the second time, it is clear that chettah (which is much faster than lion) has lost its weapon, its SPEED after 1st attack, as lioness easily gets to it on the 2nd attack, i feel the end of 2nd attack is the the end of cheetah. not surprising though, a cheetah without its speed, is a delicious meal for a lion.!!!

The lioness caught the cheetah while it was unaware, and it caught the cheetah, injuring the animal to the point where it could not effectively run so fast (suffered spinal injury), and the cheetah looked like it broke one, or possibly both of it`s front legs when it was ran down by the lion on the second go (look closely before and after the cheetah goes down the second time).

@ashdog236 They generally weigh over 30 kg.....more like 40 - 55 kg. But, the point of the lion killing the cheetah is to prevent competition for some of the same food items. They are also territorial, and don`t like other carnivores in their territory. I`m sure if it was the other way around, with the cheetah being much bigger, then the lion would be killed, as well, if cheetahs were territorial......and indeed, they are.

i saw the whole program a few years back on discovery ... saddest story ever.. that cheetah had been searching for his brother .... lioness injured it .... cheetah escaped but with fatal injuries .... few days after the attack the cheetah finally finally found his brother (it had been searching for many months).... who abandoned him ... cudnt stay with him cuz he was injured.... the injured cheetah then died.. sad!
