Was it intended, or just coincidence you used a copy of Fight Club with the movie promo cover? But seriously, though, you're absolutely right. It's worth looking closely at the commodification of our culture. I hear stories of stealth marketing, product placement slipped into blogs, even fake conversations in crowded places endorsing product X.

I have about 3 bookshelves worth of books. I first thought of using the Fight Club book, but was hesitant because of the cover. But then i thought about the movie itself, and how despite it's anti-consumer message, there's pepsi logos throughout the flick. I'm a big fan of irony, so I decided to use it anyways.

I don't really care what people do to entertain themselves... to a point.

What motivated me to make this video was seeing the way people responded to the last lonelygirl15 video.

They know it's bogus, yet they're so emotionally involved in what is essentially advertising for a movie.

There's horrible things going on in the world, and everyone remains apathetic, but an actress performs scripted drama as part of a marketing scheme, they're deeply moved.

It frustrates me to no end.

Oh and the mask was in fact inspired by Fear and Loathing, but the filter is something I've used for the last 5 years to reduce the amount of tar I'm putting in my lungs.

The persona is my own, and I'm still trying to "find my voice" so to speak.
