Just figured I'd say that you get the negative effects either way. I love the hookah, don't get me wrong, but you're going to see SOME negative effects if you smoke frequently.

Now, the reason cigarettes (and cigars, to a lesser extent) are bad for you, is all the additives. That's what really kills you. With shisha, there's a minimal amount of tar, and the smoke is filtered.

And 20-25g of shisha contains the same amount of nicotine as 3-5 cigarettes and pretty sure it's 2-3 for the tar

I believe that you can either inhale the smoke (i.e., "breathe" it) or puff the smoke (e.g., smoking a cigar). There might be a difference if you do as shown on 2.54 but I believe we're comparing apples to oranges.

On another note, the right tobacco and coal makes all the difference. Better quality tobacco dries slower than lower quality. Regular coal should be used when using higher quality tobacco--it makes all the difference.

the thing is.. when you smoke cigs you BURN the tobacco wich will make you inhale tar.. when you smoke hookah(and inhale) the tobacco is just getting hot enough to smoke.. NOT burn wich will mean that you dont get any tar.

basicly. it depends on a few things. if your using instant light charcoal or charcoal you used for BBq's. then the effects will be even worse on you since both of those types of charcoal have a lot of chemicals in them. hookah charcoals are the way to go. also. try to just suck in the smoke and blow it back out without the inhaling part. you still get the flavor.

Cigs burn at the temperature of 500 degrees hookah with out ice in the bowl burns at only 250 degrees its impossible to only smoke with your mouth u would have very little to no smoke coming out when u exhale because u have to make the smoke travel a long way and the air in just your mouth can't do that. The reason why you think you are not inhaling is because the smoke is very very cool it feels like u are inhaling cool flavored air. Trust me I smoke Hookah
