  • Lots of haters out there, that don't like people like you who give out FREE guitar lessons.. ..."Me.... i admire people like you!!! "..To share the gift of knowledge, especially when not receiving anything but great feedback and apprecitation from viewers who more than likely could not afford lessons. Awesome job too!

  • @comfortablynumb67

    Thanks, I appreciate that.

  • @comfortablynumb67 Thanks, I appreciate that.

  • @comfortablynumb67 I appreciate the freebie. People who help others without demanding money are rare these days. "Needle And The Damage Done" is one of my all time favorite songs and been trying to learn the guitar part for years. THANKS.

    Lynn

  • Hey man thats right on. I digg how you keep it to the point, your a good guitar teacher, is easy to follow. Thanks

  • @TheBobvela

Thanks for the comment, I appreciate that.

  • it is called an Esus4

  • how do you have it set on 12 string what kind of guitar is it ?

  • @misterguitar1967

It's a VG Stratocaster. Check it out, there's a Fender website out there describing how it works.

  • nice

  • Great lesson bud... very good explanation and fingerings that work easily.

  • HE NEVER PLAYS IT ON A 12 STRING GUITAR

  • You play it exactly how I've always played it, which I've always known to be accurate because I just watch old footage of Neil playing. There was another video-lesson on this song and the guy was really off with the ending. So I have to give credit where credit is due! Neil's style is so hard to perfectly replicate (even though some people don't think so) and I think anyone who even comes close to matching that sound deserves some kudos.

  • @bveracka Thanks a lot for the comment, I apprecaite that. Neil is the Man, as far as I'm concerned. Cheers.

  • Great video. Explains the intro very well. I was a bit lost on the timing but after watching i'm playing spot-on.

  • @silentscope1234

Thanks for the comment, I appreciate that.

  • Takes me back to the old dazes!! Love The Harvest Album by Neil Young

  • I love Neil Young and I loved this video, I dont play a guitar yet but im only 16 so perhaps now would be a good time to start trying.

I have a huge interest in music and only wish I started soon :(

Im thinking about buying myself an acoustic guitar and perhaps getting some lessons of my friend, or even pay for lessons.

The only thing Ive ever been able to play is the start of Airbag by Radiohead on the schools bass.

I'd appreciate it if you could tell me how I can get started, if possible

  • down by the river is a good start imo: u learn some basic chords and it's good for your rhythm feeling... still it's very challenging for a beginner

    cheers & good luck

  • I agree with nemesis100786. Get yourself a guitar (spend as much as you can afford because the more you spend the longer you'll be able to use it) and then just start learning songs like Down by the River. You'll get hooked, I promise!

  • ive been trying to play this for a while now and ur video helped alot thanx

  • I could already play this tune but your lesson has helped me to tidy it up a bit...it now sounds a bit more precise..

    Thanks

  • That's great, thanks for letting me know, I appreciate that.

  • Nice job. Good sound with the VG Strat electric on the twelve string setting.

  • young songs are so hard u help alot

  • Thanks, I ve been trying to figure this one out for a long time.

  • great vid its cool to hear this song electric

  • great lesson, not for beginners though... but either is this song. If you can't follow this then you are probably not ready to play it yet. Nice work, just don't add the F# back on the d chord

  • you start out saying this takes a lot of right hand movement but you don't even explain how you are playing the notes in the chord. this lesson sucks.

  • Very nice instructions, the best I have seen on line. Thanks for laying it out.

  • Thanks for the comment. Appreciate that.

  • Nice arrangement. : )

  • I appreciate the comment. Thank you.

  • I know it's not supposed to be exact or anything... but Neil don't add the F# back onto the D Major chord at the begging of the riff.

  • I find you easy to understand cheers ears! :)

  • Thanks for the comment, and keep on playin'!

  • dude, thanks so much for your help, i've been strumming some chords wishing i could play this intro and now I can .... thanks. Now, lets trade guitars and I'll be real happy.

  • What do you play? I gotta know which guitar I'm trading for. :)

  • Washburn EA20SDL - acoustic/electric .... fair trade, even up.

  • Nice, I bet the Washburn sounds awesome, especially for tunes like this one.

  • I've been playing it wrong for years - thanks for the great lesson. Cool guitar sound too. Saw NY a couple of weeks ago - he did this song, sounded awesome.

  • Thanks for the comment. Neil is the best, isn't he? How is his voice? He sings in such a high register I wonder if he can still hit those notes.

  • Neil put on a great show - very high energy, lots of songs from the Crazy Horse days. His voice sounded great to me.

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • Its called the "VG Stratecaster," and it has several additional sounds it'll make, such as the twelve string sound that I'm using here. Thanks for asking, Geoffrey.

  • I like the 12 string sound. Cool lesson.

  • It is not a 12 string guitar...

    Cool lesson anyway!

    Peace

    Massy

  • It's not a twelve string, but I'm using the "twelve string" sound on the guitar, provided by the Roland pick up. See my comment to Geoffrey, above, if you're curious. Thanks for the compliment, Bluebeardit.
