@zodiak3000 just Ableton :) and something to trigger the events - a simple computer keyboard or a midi controller of any kind - at a friends place i use a Xbox360 pad :)

stupid question but how are you able to arm all your tracks and hear it in the volume you are recording at? when i arm all the tracks like that, i hear the sample i am recording multiplied by each armed track. if anyone can help, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks for the response. One thing Im not totally sure about... How do you make sure the first loop is totally in sync with Lives clock? After this, I can see that it's not a problem, as it's all following that first loop.

You don't appear to have headphones, so I guess you can't hear the metronome? Maybe I'm missing something and it doesn't matter?

at the beginning, theres is a hh-loop which is 100% in time - that is the trick!

Back in time i used a BOSS RC-20, which is not so easy to use, because you have to loop the first loop very clean!

So in LIVE you start with some hh-loop, and you will have no problems - thats cool!

Is looping, like this, allowed in DMC comps?

As for the tech, it's a Numark CDX hooked up to Rane's mixer. he's then sampling and looping the output using Ableton and a Behringer FCB MIDI footpedal. The footpedal simply turns on and off looping, it's Ableton that is actually recording/playing the loops. I also suspect the footpedal is being used to select samples from the CDX.

Ableton can't do live loopingl on it's own. You need Bomes, although it's not too hard to setup.
